98-00 are the same.

 

No they aren't. In 1999 they went with smaller injectors and the programming wasn't as rich from the factory, so they picked up about 5hp.

Although you can still find some 98s that run stronger than some newer ones, it's luck of the draw really.

 

My 98 put just about 340 to the wheels through 4:11 gears with only a lid and a new muffler. And the car flies. With 360 lbs of tq at the pavement it isn't sluggish at all.

 

5hp equals about .05 seconds in the 1/4 mile.

The heads are also slightly different on the 98's aswell, but as posted before, some are sluggish and some are beasts, i think i got one of the good ones tho, one of my friends 98 z stock put down 290/308 with a lid on his, and with the lid and cut out on mine i put 316/341, with 105k on the odo, i raced my friends 01 Z with borla and a lid, and put a car on him, some people just get the short straw
