Default Performance diff between t-top and Convertible

I know with stangs that verts are slower b/c of the weight. I have been driving around in a vert v6 and love it. I like the ls1's with t-tops, but I think I would like a vert. Is there much body flex? What about 1/4 mile time vert vs. t-top? or is it not even enough to worry about? I think I would really like a vert WS6.

Thx

The verts come with subs from the factory to reduce body flex. T-tops also have flex as well, hard top is definately the way...unfortunately I have Ts as you can see. With a few bolt-ons all difference is lost between them IMO though, get what YOU like it's YOUR car.

The vert's are fairly heavy as well, and there is body flexing.
But nothing beats dropping the top on a nice sunny day and hear your engine roaring as you cruise down the strip.
If you get a vert. Be sure to get weld-in sfc's and a strut tower brace.
I have these mods and they make all the difference in the world.

Good luck 2 ya.

I didn't think SFC's fit on verts?

I don't own one, so I really don't know.

Even my hard top isn't very stiff unfortunately. My 87 Accord has more rigidity than my Camaro.

Body stiffness is actually very good for a convertible.
Tighter than my old full-frame A-body and B-body
GM 'verts. The front will shake a bit but you can and
probably should brace it up. The 'verts just have two
steel channels connecting the subframes along the
sides along with a bolted-in X stamping that might or
might not do anything useful (but interferes with most
non-factory exhausts).

A couple of hundred pounds extra, to be in the breeze
and look this smooothpimpatastic is a deal I'll take.

Can't say much for the 4th gens but the 3rd gen connectors are a joke. These cars started out as T-top cars and were converted by various companies through the years . ASC did the majority of conversions. There is no such thing as a 3rd gen factory convertible , never happened. What ASC used for SFCs were paper thin , SFCs are a big improvement. From what I understand 4th gen'verts aren't much better. Get some SFCs and forget about the weight.

Nah, the wind resistance would probably make up for the lost weight.

All NHRA tracks have previously required any vert running faster than 14.0 in the 1/4 to have a roll bar. From what I've read that has been changed now for the 2005 season. No roll bar will be required as long as the car is totally stock, with the exception of exhaust and/or tires.
