Default Shaved heads and smog

How much does shaving LS1 heads & raising compression affect smog tests?

I've got some shaved heads I want to put on my engine, along with the TR224 cam I just bought. But I'll be moving to San Diego, CA (next spring probably) and am worried about having to pass their smog test. (No smog test in Vermont!)

Is higher compression going to be an issue? Or am I going to be okay? I AM keeping ALL emissions equipment, for what it's worth.

I'd worry more about the cam than the compression.

IIRC, more compression will make your emissions less, but since most people add a big cam with high compression engines this really isn't an issue.

What is PROVEN to pass the sniffer is anything equal to or smaller than a 224/224 cam on a 114 split.

Make sure you have everything well documented, engine swaps are a pain in some places to get certified.

Not too worried about the cam, I did go with 112LSA, but I can always put the stock cam back in to pass smog, if I have to. Worst case scenario, I'll just sell the 224/112 and get the 224/114 - I doubt there is THAT much difference in power.

Anyway, sounds like I should make out okay then with the compression increase.

Thanks for the info.
