Default Fair prices for a '98?

I was looking through autotrader.com for '98 camaros in my price range, and well, there weren't any. I thought I read that I could expect them to be in the 9-10k$ range, but I'm seeing prices of like $14K+. My only criteria are v8 and m6, and preferably reasonable miles (less than ~70k?)

Are these prices bullshit or am I just going to have to look into an LT1? I live in Terre Haute, Ind btw and was looking for cars within 300 miles of my zip.

i bought a super nice '98 ws6 m6 with 28k on the clock for 14,000. my only resource was online and the occasional weekend used car dealer searches, and i had to use a dealer to get financing, since i only had about half that saved.

i looked for alooong time for a better deal, i think alot of the low money ls1's you hear about are either thru people who know other people (aka good deals) or just being in an area where those kinds of cars are more common. you always hear about guys in california and whatnot getting smoking deals, up here in the midwest i think they command a little more since they are a little more rare.

i personally wouldnt pay over 10k for a 98 in this day and age. 98 Z's are a dime a dozen and frankly aint worth a ****. great for buying, bad for selling.

98s are worth the money with low miles. I bought mine 4 years ago with 19k on the clock for 15k, GM certified, and that cost includes a $1500 3/36 mile extended powertrain warranty. With 35k on the clock I love how my car has held it's value. Just don't overspend for a high-mile vehicle. If money is tight, LT1 vehicles are abundant and cheap and will leave you plenty of spare change for mods.

I have seen loads of 98/99 Z28's for <$8,000. Check out ebay. KrazyZ just got a 98 Z for $4,000. It's a nice car too. like 54K on the clock, teal.

I paid 12 for my SS, 2000 with 32k miles on it. In great shape with every option on it. Keep looking youll find someone that wants to get rid of it.

As for the value comment...I cannot belive that you really think this.
