Default Will the WS6 lower air box...

I recently put a WS6 hood on my car and ran it at the track twice now. With the hood my car has gone about 2-3 mph slower than it used to. I thought it could be something else wrong with the car but it's not. Looking back, the only thing I've changed was the hood. I was thinking that the hood is messing up the air flow into my box and I might need to upgrade to the WS6 lower air box. What do you guys think?

The upgrade to the airbox is probably a better mod than the hood IMHO.

Also, were there any other differences at the track like temp and humidty?

The hood may add a little weight and maybe some less than aerodynamic affects but not enough for 1 to 3 mph IMHO. Maybe close to 1 mph....

Weather is a big possibility.... You can lose 2-3mph if its hotter, higher DA, Humidity....

The first time I went to the track with the hood it was during the summer. That's why I kind of dismissed it as being the heat and humidity. The second time I went to the track was a couple weeks ago, and the temps were around 65 degrees with low humidity.

I actually think this hood weighs less than the stock one. Like I said earlier, the hood is really the only change I made that would affect mph.

Your speed change has nothing to do with the hood or airbox. The only time the WS6 airbox is going to make ANY kind of difference is on a full-bolt on car (lid, maf, LTs, exhaust). It had to be the conditions, or maybe you wore enough rubber off your tires that now you're not hooking as early?

Right. There are many possibilities.

What were your 60' times on both occasions? That might explain it.

Can you use a WS6 airbox with a non ram air hood?

On a side not, I'm also wondering since I'm gonna be getting a Raptor hood should I just wait until then and not get a lid and stuff since the airbox gets replaced anyways?

I don't have the time slips handy, but I know for a fact that the 60fts were within hundreths of each other, usually around the 2.0xx- 1.9xx mark. I would have picked up on this.

The other thought I had was that maybe the tranny is getting a little worn out with 102k on the clock. I think maybe I'm just grasping at straws.
