Your MPH is terrible. The only reason you got a 13.5 was your terrific launch on street tires. If you would have had a 2.2 60' (which is common for guys new to the track) you would have been somewhere around 14.0 @ 100.

What was the track elevation? How hot and humid was it when you ran? On a 90 degree day with a 700 foot elevated track I pulled a 13.5 @ 103.79 with just a lid and catback on a 2.1 60' so I'm thinking your car is a good 3-5 mph under par for trap speed. You may want to have it checked out by a mechanic or LS1 guru.

Good Luck

thanks again this information is really helpfull. i race at new england drag way up in new hampshire so i'm not sure. but based upon location i would say above sea level. i really would like to get a dyno on the car to get more info that would really ve a very important key of info. but plan of attack is gears, tires, headers,y-pipe, and suspension then we will see thsanks again man and good luck with your ride.

And you may want to consider a tune after the TC install.

13.5 is a good time in a 98' Trans Am. Also, going from a 3.42 to 3.73 will definitely need drag radials.

Good luck though.
thank you for the imput man it is really helpfull. i think i;m going to attack this problem with the 3:73gears 3000 to 3200 stall. rear suspension and the rest of the exhaust. my ultimate goal is to be an 11 second street car. but first i need to get in the 12s. first things first right lol

You should be somewhere in the high 12's. If I were you I would get a higher stall converter. Maybe a 3200 or something. With a better converter and good traction with good air you should be able to get into the mid to low 12's.

With nitrous you might be able to bypass the 12's all together. What ever you decide good luck!
