Default questions on quarter mile times for 98 ls1

Please help ?!?!?!? i have a 98 trans am with some bolt ons. it has slp airlid, smoothe bellow and an 85mm maf, also an slp y-pipe and corsa exhaust system 3inch. it has only 38,000 miles and is in show condition. i still do many shows but i am aiming ti get back into racing with it as well. my best time was 13.5 at 100.40 and best 60' was 1.98. i have 3:42 gears but am going to 3:73 with a 2200 vigilanti stall as well as kooks headers their y-pipe with magnaflow cats using my exhaust that i have now. also i am getting an intake ls6 high flow. where should i be when all is said and done. thank you for your time

13.5@ 100? Something is wrong there, I am guessing your 85 mm maf is causing you to run very badly.

With traction and a stall, I expect much better than just high 12's. Just look at my signature. Imagine if I had LT's...

For your A4 with a 2200 stall and the other mods you are looking at, I'd say 12.8-12.9. A higher stall would put you mid twelves. If the rear is stock you probably have 3.23's or 2.73's

Oh yes, let there be traction.

No that is perfectly fine. 01-02 are a tad bit faster, but if properly driven, low low 13's and high 12's are possible. Autos are of course more consistent.

Altitude can also come into play. Also the track. Weather, humidity, etc etc. At the nicer track of colorado (bandimere, 5400ft) most TAs are only running mid to low 14s. The really shitty track in colorado (PMI, 5000ft) most TAs are running mid to high 14s. It truly makes me sad...but I suppose its not too bad, because the other cars are slower too. But I hate having a 14 sec car!

ty for the reply. i have heard many different opinions on why i am seeing the times that i am. i think the best thing to do is get different gears and maybe 3200 stall. headers should help as well as the intake by f.a.s.t. where do u thinkk i will be after that stuff is done i am hoping for low 12

low 12's will be pushing it without some suspension work, a 12 bolt and some tires.

That MPH is very low for those mods. The time only depends on traction but your MPH refects your HP. Are you above or below sealevel? With my auto, I ran a 104.2 and that was with a catback and lid and it was a 99 with 2.73s in Raceway Park NJ.

I would guess a 3200 stall will shave approx .5+ second off that time.

And you may want to consider a tune after the TC install.

13.5 is a good time in a 98' Trans Am. Also, going from a 3.42 to 3.73 will definitely need drag radials.

Good luck though.

your mph sucks... the time isnt too bad, though some cars do better. What was your 60'?

I dont think you will be satisfied with a 2200 stall... get something around 3000ish, and you will definitely see a more significant difference. with the LT's and gears, and traction I would say mid 12's...

60 foot ain't bad, I vote up the converter and get stickier tires while you're at it, you would be looking at 12s for sure

Low to mid 13's with a lid-catback A4 is pretty average. That's where I am with my 2000. Like everybody says, a converter and some tires will get twelves.
