I've always heard the TA's were faster than the Camaros... something about a lower drag coefficient. The vette's got more power according to GM, but I've heard that factory they're a lot closer than you'd think...

Mostly speculation here, though. I don't have any hard evidence, though...

corvette...given equal drivers..it should be within a car or two...corvette has a little more power and aerodynamics..also quite a bit lighter..

Which car has the best driver? Equal driving abilities they should all be similar, but I would give the vette the edge do to lighter weight.

an ls1 vette looses more hp thru its drivetrain than an f-body, so that would make it dyno somewhat lower. vettes weigh less, enough to make up for drivetrain loss. t/a and camaros running each other can be seperated by driver error more than anything else. you cant say one is faster than the other. the answer to this question depends on who you ask . vettes from the factory consistantly see better times due to their weight advantage.

Come on here. That question has been asked so so so many times. Use a search and you'll see a LS1=LS1 which in turn = you guessed it...LS1. Give or take it comes down to driver error.

*******

also which is faster is vague even though i know your talking about 1/4 mile. could also be construed as faster mph, faster on a road course, faster from a roll/stop, ect. stock for stock:

1/4: drivers race
road coarse: c5

Vette will be faster. Popular Mechanics ran a test of the Camaro vs Firebird vs the Muskrat a few years ago and the Bird tops out at 163 governed, the Camaro tops out at 160 Drag limited and if I remember right the Muskrat didn't come close to either. Also if you are looking for a real fast Bird, go with the Formula with the m6 v8 because it has less power options than the TA and weighs less.

You mean a no-option hard-top Formula. Formulas can be optioned up like a T/A too. Mine has all the amenities of a T/A without leather (T-Tops included).

IMO based on much research, there is NO DIFFERENCE in F-bodys...especially top end. I realize that owners of each have pride in their vehicle, but be realistic. Factory tolerances and "the luck of the draw" have more impact on 4thGen F-Body performance than model. If anything the "stripper" Formys and Z28s will be quickest with less weight and good sidewall-flex and traction. Bottom-line:
1/4 mile: F-bodys equal with a slight edge to the Vette and a couple MPH trap.
Top Speed: ALL M6 F-bodys will pull 5th to about 163ish MPH. M6 coupe Vettes have done 175ish stock and FRC/Z06s are 170ish.
Automatics are a different story and one that I have not researched much as I own a M6.

people with a ws6 are not going to like that But the ss is not faster. Its equal on avgerage hower you may have or have seen a faster ss. Its because its on average. Some of each are faster, it all depends on how they come off the line. Some just go faster. I have seen z28's beat beat ss, which cold also be due to drivers but considering they both had slicks i doubt the driver had much to do with it. Both autos as well. Have seen manuals do the same but thats more of the drivers ability.

corvette would be the faster given the power to weight ratio
and ss vs. ws6 would depend on the car and diver

I almost did that when I ordered mine (bought it new), but I decided I liked the TA front valence (or whatever you want to call it) last minute and changed my mind. Those formy's are pretty sweet, though.

hmm...am i the only one who finds it strange that a frc/z06 vette would do less top speed than a normal c5...first if it were a z06 the extra power would bring it quite a bit faster than the normal c5....i don't see why a frc vette would be any slower or faster than the coupe

I like the look of the Formula's nose better, although the T/A has a better rear.

Answer: Gearing. The Z06 tranny has slightly different gearing.

this thread is homo and maybe i'll throw in a lil extra

use the damn search button, you can never say one is def faster than the other because there are too many diff variables involved mainly who's driving. Driver equal, vette stock will be fbody stock, a lil more power, better aerodynamics, and weighs less. leave it at that
