ive got the k&n box filter, some say its a waste of money, but i bought it back when i had my v6 camaro, and carried it over, i figure its cheaper because all i have to do is wash it every 50,000 (well thats the milage k&n says, i think ill clean it sooner tho)

Why do K&N filters (and the like) need to have oil on them???
Also there was a high performance air filter dyno comparison in hot rod a while back. The Rush performance filter did the best, but no one seems to run them. They compared Rush, K&N, I think holley, and one other brand. If I went with one, I'd probably go with a Rush. Partly because of the article
and because a yellow filter looks cool!
I'm sticking with paper for now to avoid MAF oil probs, I'm still under warranty.

K&N's are made of cotton with allow better airflow, but with the added airflow = less fitering, so they added the oil which makes the dust and dirt stick, so now you have better airflow and better filter, but its been proven over and over that K&N vs. paper in our cars doesnt have much of a gain, if any
personally, i like only haveing to have one, and clean once every 3+ years, and i like the red filter
and oh yea, K&N says that it filters better after its had some use and gotten dirty, i dont understand how this works, but thats what they say
