My 99 TA had 3 window motors replaced before 30k miles, and 2 headlight motors replaced before 40k miles.

Getting my driver side motor/regulator replaced in (2) weeks (extended warranty)
2002 Firehawk

I understand these are definite weaknesses in the 4th Gen F-bodies. I now can count (6) ppl who have had theirs swapped out.

make sure that the door panel is not put on to tight, this aids in wearing them out faster.

Usually limited lifetime means as long as you own the car. If you sell it and the new owner has it go bad the won't replace it. When I worked at Auto Value I abused warrenties pretty bad.
The drivers side on my '02 and the passenger side on my brothers '99 are bad. I can get a gm motor for $100, I think I might check out Auto Zone if everyone is having good luck with them. I've always thought a lot of Auto Zone stuff was pretty crappy.

Default smell that? roll down the window...

had my driver side replaced. my passenger side seems like it might go at anytime. when the driver side was fixxed they told me that the motor, and relay were both bad. has anyone else check out the relays? and my ex g/f has a 98 z28 and its window are way faster than my 99 ws6. my turn signals are slow too despite changing the flasher can. also noticed that turn signal lights(park lamps/drl) burn out due to leaking lens on both sides. anyone else?

99 Formula with 67k and I have to start rolling up the passenger side window 10 minutes away from the house. ;p

The windows in my 02 Caravan work great. Wonder if someone can adapt another window motor?

If someone made a stronger window motor, they'd sell a hell of a lot of them.

Should I have a professional do the work or do you think I will be ok. I have had problems with my windows rolling up as well. I have a 95 bird I love my car to pieces.Hubby says to get rid of it! HELP!!!!

Mine's been acting up. The window will go down really slow, then only make it half way back up and takes a few trys of going up and down to finally get the window all the way up. Car only has 12K miles on it

I finally got around to replacing the window motor on my wife's car. First, I'd like to say that this job was easy. A '2' on a scale of 1 to 10. Second, if this Autozone motor is a Siemens then GM is using Siemens' motors cause the GM motor I took out looked exactly like 'Siemens' that I put back in. And I mean exactly. Well at least I have the warranty so the next one should be free.

Just replaced the driver side window motor on my '00 B4C. Ran the service history on it courtesy of a friend at GM, and this is actually the car's THIRD motor on the driver's side. According to GM's files, the original motor crapped out around 30K miles (!) This second one that I just yanked out lasted to the 98K mile mark.

That's just an observation influenced by your specific experience. The LT1 and LS1 motors are identical.

BTW, my '94's driver side motor went out at ~65K miles. Passenger is fine, but it gets used 1/2 as much.

i just swapped out my passenger motor since i had the panels pulled off and it was about a second slower than the driver going up. lol, and the damn thing is still about a second slower...

i think i might tear apart the stock one and see if there's any similarites between the motor it has and the electric rc motors i'm familiar with.

there HAS got to be a way to improve these things...

if somebody were to make an aftermarket window motor, well, that would be cool.

my passenger is getting slow. i can see why the person that originally ordered the SS we have bought it without power accessories, cranks don't go out.
