dunno if these have been mentioned...'98s have:

* paper waterpump gaskets that will usually corrode about now and leak. pita. later models have metal gaskets

* some had defective oilpumps that could destroy the motor (i think 99's could have them too)

* working water temp guage

* bigger injectors

* more aggressive cam

* oddball PCM (ie. can't get a Predator for it...probably because the MFG didn't find it worthwhile to make one just for the '98s....took longer for HP Tuners to make a version for the '98s, etc...)

* slight weeping in the rearend

* really loud belt tensioner squeek (esp. after it rains)

A couple of these are not just '98 specfic though.

The oil pump issue went through the '00 model year. That issue began to disappear when the LS6 pump was used in '01-up.

The cam is the same from '98-'00.

I love my 98, it dyno's over 300hp just ike the "better" ones. And besides, it has blue tinted mirrors, functional temp guage, cool steering wheel buttons, nice injectors and an auburn rear end. Beat that

Back in the day I ran a 13.1@106 with lid/filter and a (low)flowmaster catback.

I just bought a black and white 98 B4C and it straight pulls hard till I run out of road... even with 117K mi!!! You can't beat the way people get the hell out of the way when they see you comming. Just curious, I have the original window sticker which lists the "special service package" options, and my rollbar isn't listed, did the factory put this in or was it added by the troopers?

My '98 is currently at 11,800.

I've gotta have one of the lowest mileage '98s on here.
