Default General battery question...

Just a quick question in regards to charging a maintenance free battery. When i put the camaro away for the winter, the little light on the top of the battery was green, which im assuming means fully charged or has good life in it. Well, i only fired it up once or twice since october, and this being the longest stretch, i wanted to fire it up again but the battery needs to be charged. My question is...that green light is gone, no colors at all, does this mean the entire battery is shot or can i still charge it up?

the green light just means its fully charged, if its gone then it needs to be charged, but unless you have a deep cycle battery, doing this will kill the life of the battery quicky, if you still have the AC Delco battery, its probly on its last leg by now seeing that you have a 99, mines having the same problem, let it sit for 2 days and it barely wants to crank over, id recommend either a deep cycle battery or an Optima battery, onces mines dead im going with the Optima

It's not shot, just not as charged as it should/could be.

When I store mine, I always remove the battery and keep it isolated from the ground (usually on the top of an empty cardboard box) inside the house.

I have done this for the last 6 winters (car is stored from the end of october to the begining of april) without having to charge the battery a single time.

I still have the original AC Delco.

while waiting on my ORY to come in i had to let my car sit up for a week, but my battery got drained because glove box light was stuck on! the green disappeared to clear like yours, and i just had mine jumped off and its green again. no problems since, its been about a week. just jump it off and let in run a while, i bet it will be fine.

I've been having problems with my POS delco battery.

But anyway what I was going to say was watch out for a dead cell in your battery. The battery went dead in a different car I had and I got a jump, ran fine for a week or so. Then car's electrics started going weak, like not being able to run weak. The battery ended up having a dead cell which inturn killed my alternator because it was being overworked/battery wasnt receiving the charge.

I agree, The same thing happend to me on my daily driver...the ABS light was the first warning then my wife calling me from the store was the second and final gasp. The newer alternators are alot more complicated and fragile pieces than the old Delco jobs you see hanging on the side of JohnDeer tractors now days.

Good Luck 99CamaroSS, Tom

I'm not sure if you can check it yourself. I mean you could if you knew how/had the equipment. But I would just say to have it checked somewhere, it cant cost much if anything.
