Where to jack up the rear end of the car from?
hey guys i need to jack up the rear of my car in order to change teh brakes, and i usually just jack it up from the pig on the differential, is this ok or is the only good way to do it one side at a time. i usually jusst jack up from the diff and then put stands under the axles, will this be ok? first time for me on the camaro so i though i would check first.
Please let me know what you think.
Thanks
Louie

i would jack it from the pumpkin then put jack stands on the rear subframe in front of the tires, lower the pumpkin, gives you more room to get to the caliper bolts and such with the rear hanging.

only problem with putting the jackstands under the unibody/LCA of the car, is that when you are letting it down, the jackstands will hit, then the suspension travel will let out. this causes the car to try and roll forward (while suspension is letting out) and threatens to tip the jackstands over.
i only let the rear suspension travel out when i need to work on the rear end/suspension.
i like to put my jackstands under the axle tubes and as close to the outside as possible. i also like to put the front jackstands under the portion where the front a-arms connect to the k-member, this lets the front suspension travel out.
