Exactly as Kickass put it. I honestly would do the small things, then work up. SO ported TB by Bo White, ASP pulley, and then go for the cam. That should do you just right.

Do you plan to run much at the track? Do you want good track times or a powerfull street car to cruise around in? If you plan to race it much get drag radials, clutch, and 12 bolt rear. That will eat a good bit of money. If you just want more power and healthy exhaust note get a cam/spring kit.
Little things: subframe connectors, ported throttle body, lower control arms, gears (if keeping the 10 bolt for awhile).

Cam, gears, subframe connectors, ported throttle body, pullies, drag radials. Take your pick, depending on what you want to spend. If you decide on a cam read the stickies, JRP's cam guide, and search before you ask which cam you should get.

Some people have charging issues at idle. EIther go with only the crank underdrive, or add an alt overdrive as well. They are typically worth a solid 0.1 and 1 mph. Or close.

I would do a head and cam package, then work my way down.

I noticed you said you would like a strong street performer, keep in mind in 06 the new Z06 will have 500HP and the new Cobra's will 450HP. So you really should consider a Head and Cam package.

heads and cam are good...but on the cheaper end maybe pullys, pro 5.0 shifter, TRUE DUALS! (I love them!)

If street racing is your "cup-o-tea". I'd seriously consider a nice 125 shot of N2O with all the safety equipment. It's relatively cheap, you will sacrafice ZERO streetability, and it will increase your hp/tq more than all of those other mods combined. Good Luck.
