Default Gettin ready to buy ws6

i just got back from my trip from canada and it is time for me to get a ws6 but i had a couple of questions. I had one nice one in mind it is an 01 Pewter Ws6 ttops black int. 6spd flowmasters with 40k miles they want a firm 18k for it? i havent looked at it yet in person i am goin tomrw morning but it is from a private person no dealership, im kind of a lil nervous about buying one from a person i dont want it to **** out the in the next 3 days after i buy becuase there is no type of warrantie i ran a carfax threw it and everything came up, with no wrecks and only 3 owners i talked to the lady she said it was her daughters they bought it for her and she couldnt drive it so they are selling it. she said it is like new with only few scrathes pratically brand new. so i just wanted to have yalls input on it and any suggestions or help would be great thanks
oh yeah and can someone tell me what kind of rims these are my friend told me they are fieske's here is they page with pics too.

If their daughter couldn't drive it, ie: 6 speed, you might be investing in a new clutch before you want to. 18K is alittle high priced see if you can talk them down a litte. Good luck.

Make sure it's a real WS6 (rpo code ws6, on sticker on the drivers door jamb )
Check the headlights don't go up and down when you lock the car
Trans doesn't pop out of gear, or grind/make nasty noises when going into gear
Rear end doesn't whine
T tops don't leak
nice looking car, but to echo the rest, 18k is too high IMO
Good luck

Start it up, pop the hood, and listen for anything off. Look for any extra shiny parts in the engine bay, usually means they are new. Hell, take it to a dealership and have them test it for compression and all that other stuff. If you get a chance, rummage through the glove box for receipts. Definately try and chew them down on the price.

18k!!!!! I wouldnt buy it for probably more than 15k. I can bring it way down. Kelly Blue book it and if it turns out lower, show that to them. Like the others said, take it to a dealership and have them fully test everything.

sounds like a great car. take a look at the rear tire tread, compare the rear tires to each other, and then the rears to the front, it will be pretty obvious whether or not the car has been driven hard that way. Also check the underside of the car for oil leaks and in front of the rearend for a pinion seal leak, not a big problem, but a somewhat frequent one. Pop the hood and start the car WHEN COLD, listen for piston slap, and any somewhat loud clicking coming from the valve train. Expect some clicking, this is normal on cold engines, but loud clicking isnt good. I would expect it has had some hard driving if flow masters were installed... When driving keep and eye on the oil pressure as well... Just a few things to look for... Deinetly talk em down a little!

Good Luck,
Nathan

As someone mentioned before, you can get it for at least, 16500 or 17000. I had bought my 98 ws6 for 14k with some bolt ons and 61k miles.

KBB has that car for 17.8 where you live. Try to talk them down to 16.5.

If the car is in good shape and you like it then get it for what you can. The WS6 is a great car and you will have a lot of fun with it.

BTW, I paid $24,000 for my WS6 in 2002 with low miles. Not too bad and it booked out for around $30,000. But if it was $28,000 I still would have got it because it was what I wanted and others were selling for around $30k. My point is this: just because I found a low priced WS6 does not mean they are available with a low price everyday and everywhere. So, if it is appraised at or lower than the asking price and it is in great shape then get it, you will not regret it.

I'm getting the car to book (private party) for $16,500. It's goes up to almost $17,200 when you add t-tops, but those were standard on trans am's...wish kbb would get their **** together. $16,500 is book value for the car in the zip code where it's being sold. try to get it for $16,000.

well we went to look at it today and i drove it, absolutley beautiful, garage kept a few scraths other than that really good. but he wouldnt budge from 18k. everything was fine with the car, but heres the bad news we went to the bank to see what intrest we could get on a loan with that and under my dads credit it was a ****** 10.14% intrest rate on 18 thousand dollars. well **** that would be like 5100$ for intrest damn and thats without putting any down, and that would have made my payents for a 5 yr loan like 385 and thats no what i want, b/c with that i could get a new car for that price with 0 miles and warranty and etc. so needless to say tomrw we are goin back to the bank and see what we can do, i really loved the car and to be honest i would have settled for 18. so we are also going to look at this 03 cobra tomrw with 9 thousand miles on it. let me knw what you think about it all (even the cobra)
thanks

03 Cobra's are nice....but they're still expensive.

Hold out until you find THE car you want. It may end up that two months from now the car you looked at today will still have not sold and then they will budge on the price.
