Where can I get a good deal on the ls6 intake? Did the tb bypass already. I thought the stock MAF system is good for 500hp?

yeah the ls6 intake by itself will probably get you damned close, especially with a cam and high flow exhaust... The throttle body would also help.

LS6 intake and ported TB. My cam is a bit larger than yours, but with pulley and LS6 intake I gained 43 rwhp, which implies roughly 33 rwhp from the intake. This power wasn't equal across the rpm range though, it was mostly from 5000-6500 where the LS1 intake was being too restrictive. But hey, at WOT my car sees maybe the first second below 5k and that's about it.

DON'T mess with the MAF.

As a noob I've been seeing a lot of discussion about MAF. A lot of people have it ported, others have it replaced with a lager one, and some say that it should stay the way it is. Which one will actually offer some power?

btw, good luck on getting those 400whp man!

thanks

I got a 12 RWHP gain from a Granatelli. I thought more horsepower was the objective.

Do some searches, lots of problems. From what I can tell more seem to arise from SLP's than the GMAF, but that might not be so.

Apparently the extra power from a ported MAF comes from the maf reading lesss air and causing the car to run a little bit leaner. Reading less air also makes it especially bad for people with A4's by lowering the line pressure. This is only what I've read and it's been awhile, I suggest a search to find out more. I might do that msyelf later today since it is coming up a lot lately. There is more to it than what I just typed....

unless you get your car tuned for it (hard to tune usually from what i hear) don't get the maf...it will run lean. Even the sponsors and tuners will tell you to get a stock replacement or keep the one you have.

With the MAF, once you hit 500HP it becomes a restriction. Now which MAF would people here switch to once you hit 500HP?

You already have:
Whisper Lid
QTP LT Headers
TSP True Duals (Dumped)
March Crank Pulley
Triple Gauge Pod
TR224/224 112

What you want to look at getting:
LS6 intake
Tune
Port and Polished TB

Should put you just over 400rwhp

He's already got his car tuned. It probably wouldn't do much to retune it after only a LS6 and a TB.

I disagree......have it tuned again after you have ALL the new mods in place. Not saying your gonna pick up a lot of hp, but I believe it is a good idea to have everything right where it needs to be.....IMHO. That LS6 intake and a ported TB should get you what your looking for. Good luck

He's trying to get over 400rwhp cheaply. I think he will probably be over it with just an LS6 intake and a ported TB. There would be no reason to spend the extra cash to eek maybe 2-5 horses out of the tune he already has. If money was no object I would agree with you, but I don't see it being that beneficial in his case.

I had mine retuned after adding an underdrive pulley and LS6 intake. The second tune shouldn't cost as much as the first. IMO important times to tune are after a cam, heads or power adder has been added or changed and when the car will not see a change for some time.
