Offer the guy 18.5k and leave your number.

I paid 15k for my 99 with 17k miles on it and I thought it was still a little pricey but it was in very good shape.

It's worth whatever somebody will pay for it. Fortunately for you, the banks will only cough up what the car books for. If it books for $20K, then you know that's you limit. He doesn't need to know you have a few K you could put down on it. If you offer him somewhere between $18.5 and $20K and he doesn't take it, then he doesn't want to sell the car. Leave you number, and tell him you'll call him back in 3 months. Good luck to you.

Some of you guys are getting smoking deals on LS1 cars. The prices here in Arizona are much higher than what you guys are saying you paid for your cars. From a personal standpoint I would never pay $5k over book for a car unless I really, really could not live without it.
