Default Chance it???

I rebuilt the motor nothing special, but it does have hooker LTs and TR224 cam. The muffler shop is 3 miles from my house past a police substation. Can I drive this car to the shop? I feel really dumb paying $50 for a tow down the street. What about if my wife follows with her hazards on? TIA

i'd have your wife follow you. I've driven open headers to the muffler shop just a mile down, but then again it wasn't near a police station.....

Don't go during shift change, don't pass a Dunkin Doughnuts, and do keep your foot out of it.

You'll be fine.

What I have done in the past.... Just go into the station and explain in advance what you are doing... Chances are 9 out of 10 that they will be fine with it and not give you any problem....

It bugs me to think that everyone assumes that all the police do is write tickets and *** people. They are too busy going to calls where crack ****** are beating up husbands because their welfare cheque wasn't enough to buy more crack. Seriously, just drive with the car low RPM's straight to the muffler shop. If by 0.00000000099% chance you get stopped, tell the officer you are going to get the exhaust installed down the street, provide name of place and invite him to follow you to the shop to verify this. I am sure it won't be a problem. And yes, there are ******* cops out there that ruin it for the rest of police officers. Save your self the $50, don't get it towed.

just drive it. if a cop does stop you, you can tell him you REALLY ARE going right to the muffler shop. Tell him he can give you a police escort if he'd like.
He or she would have to be a real **** to write ya.

This question is well suited for my previous line of work when I was a bit younger. If you get pulled over, Im 99.9% sure if you have a appt at the shop, the cop will tell you have a nice day. Plus chances are, the cops aren't waiting at the sub-station for you to drive by. Their usually there doing paperwork, if they were in service they'd be out patroling.

Just drive the thing and let your wife follow. my buddy had to drive his vette 8-10 miles across town to the exhaust shop which happens to be on one side of a food basket(grocery store) while tha main police station is on the other side less then 200yrds away. even if you did get stoped im sure they would let you off since your on your way to the shop.

yeah just dont worry about it. just keep your foot out of it, and you will be fine. I drove right past a police station, all the way home the night I did mine. and had 2 cops pass me. they should not be worried about your exhaust. and if they do pull ya over. be straight with them. no bs. and they will more than likely let ya go. that is the number one rule I have learned with cops. dont lie to them. and the truth is so much easier. haha. hell I got out of a ticket for 100mph in a 70 b/c I told the officer that I had just finished the cam install and I was out seeing what it could do. it was 2am. so there was no one on the road. but like I said, i told him the truth. that is the best way.

Going at night might not be a good idea unless its a 24hr muffler shop...but you could always take it and drop it off the night before so they would have it and just drive up there the next morning..really dont worry about it keep your foot off the pedal and be honest if you get stopped..simple as that...they have better things to worry about..but wait til the end of the month is over cause they may have to meet their quota..
