Default Underdrive Pulley

I couldn't beleive it my car picked up 13 rwhp on the dyno with just the slp underdrive pulley. Has anyone else tryed just the pulley and had the same results.

Hmmm, did you really put the pulley on your car or are you really just trying to find out what other people got out of it?
Because 13 rwhp is like exactly what lm performance says they saw out of the stock ls1 with the pulley.

People take stuff off websites all the time and claim that they got the numbers from their own car. I was just asking if he really did it or if he got that off a website. Seemed kinda weird to me. Don't think I was really making a big deal out of it.

I definitely got a nice seat of the pants increase with my pulley. Pulled 308rwhp without it......maybe its time to go back for another pull.

I agree, that is good numbers for something so simple.
His thread made me do a search and lm performance was the first site listed in the yahoo search for the pulley and on their site, it stated that they saw stock ls1's gain 13rwhp, which is why i questioned him.
I'd like to know what other people gained off of just the pulley, because if really adds that much hp, I'm gonna have to get one of those pulleys!

I don't have one either, but if it's throwing down 13 to the rear wheels then it'd be something I'd invest in

Yeah that sound's like a cool gain i just dont know if every Ls1 will see 13 rwhp with the pulley. What about the complete pulley set for the Ls1 ? I heard that your battery will run down alot faster and die with a Under drive pulley ? anyone

Yeah, as a matter of fact my battery went dead setting in line to race with my ASP pulley. I was at idle for like 15 minutes and then turned my engine off, when I tried to restart it my battery was totally dead. It would be a good idea to change the alternator pulley too.

What about the pulley makes your battery go dead?

the alternator doesnt spin fast enough at idle to charge the battery.

13 is questionable in my book too, but if he has a before and after dyno w/ proof, I'd believe it.

I'd say max 10 rwhp. I got a cam, fastx, and pully at the same time, so who knows what it did on mine.

I would believe 13 only if he ran on the dyno in first gear! If you dyno in 4th gear (for a manual), then I'd say the most you'll gain is around 5 hp. Remember, the main benefit of the smaller pulley is it's easier to accellerate, so you'll see a much bigger effect in the lower gears.

If your idle is set at 800+rpms you will not have any problems with charging issues. If you're an automatic I'd get the overdrive alt. pulley.

By the way, if you are going to look up a number and claim it as your own, that is lame...I've never seen anyone do that. Sorry if you took offense by me point out what he said. It just seemed obvious since I've never seen someone claim something they didn't have like that.

FWIW the pulley will show more gains at the track and sotp feel than it will on the dyno. I would guess ~10rwhp or less would be normal from a pulley.

No problem, I just thought it was a weird coincidence that the first thing that popped up in a search said you could gain 13 rwhp.
