Quality control and assembly tolerances must have something to do with it.

uhh... its a joke, for those of us who dont have the super elite factory equipped ram-air. we know what this means..
well at least most of us..

:sucks

and the reason that our cars vary so much is because of the tolerences during engine building are not very tight.
thanks gm!
meaning that each one will come from the factory slightly different.

Dude, you need to read the newbie sticky.(SuperFAQ)

And if you want your car to be Factory Freak certified then it's required that you post your mods and track times.

I know what you mean....although im a m6......just a Magnaflow catback...not even a lid...yet

I took a friend at work for a spin....he could not believe how fast it is, he kept asking me what I did to it...I told him nothing...he dont believe me to this day.

I took my dad for a ride....now in his day he had some sweet rides...he asked me what I did to it..I told him exhaust...he said why do you need a car so fast, I said because..he said I was crazy and laughed.

My father in-law went with me one day...without word while turning right, I fishtailed and smoked the tires through 2 gears...he says I see you have torn into the motor, I said no, he said OK...I left it at that....he loves the car.

I dont think my car is a freak, it seems to run just normal, I think my cousins 01 T/A maybe alittle faster, but he will never race me, due to ego.

I agree with Black00TA, I don't believe in "factory Freaks". I just can't see such a large swing in factory tolerances. The ability to smoke tires is not a measure of horsepower, just traction. The differences in stock dyno numbers doesn't mean much either. Each dyno is in a different locations, operated by different operators, installed by different companies ect ect... there are too many uncontrolled variables to measure my dyno numbers against somebody else's across the country and attach any sort of universal standard. Track times are good, but the really good numbers for a "stock" LS1 can also be attributed to variables such as weather, track prep, geographical location and just plain luck. (not that a good driver hurts either )

13.3 @ 104.5 on a factory 00 a4 z28 with 130k on it. that is a factory freak. imagine what it ran when it was new...an automatic trapping 104.5 bone stock is almost unheard of. when i say bone stock, i mean bone stock. paper filter, street tires, spare tire & jack - everything stock. just like it cam off the showroom.

again, just because our friends who dont own/know anything about these cars tell us they are "m4d crazY wicK3D f4sT!1!!one!1"

does not mean they are factory freaks.

and also. if your A4 traps 103, its a straight dog.
so if u trap 104 your not a "Leet0 fakt0ry fr43k!!"

for comparison, a guy around here has an 02 z28, A4 with 2.73, that traps 106 with a lid.... so dont be so quick to say your ride is the ****

learn to be modest, dont try and overtalk your car... or u will be pretty disapointed when your "Leet0 fakt0ry fr43k!!" gets dust kicked in its face.

Anyhow, regarding factory freak cars, I think it's more of the driver than anything else. I would imagine one person could drive a stock M6 to a high 12, then jump in another one and run a similar time. Good driver & track probably makes up for more of the 12 second stock runs than a few extra ponies

it's not my car. and this is an 00 with a stock ls1 intake, 133,000 miles on it at the time, and a raceweight of 3460. ask anyone about the track (irp - indianapolis raceway park) - it sucks. and by the way, since you obviously don't know **** about the situation, keep your dumbass comments to yourself. i was simply adding to the thread.

first of all i wasent directing that mainly toward you. i was supporting my(and others) previous statement that the term 'factory freaks ' are thrown around a little to loosly.
its not always about you

and also, OBVIOUSLY i dont know the situation, i had to make sense of your post and how it could contribute at all to this thread.

A4 traps 104.5

my car is a factory freak. completely stock 13.3 @104.5 it was at 210, and i ran 7 passes before it along with driving 40 miles to the track.

anyone who says their car is a "factory freak" with mods, is an idiot, then your car isnt factory now then is it? SSs have lids and exhaust from the factory... im going to switch to an LS6 intake and see what this car will do compared to a 01-02 car, becuase as of now i beat 01 LS1s with LS6 intakes, with my LS1 intake... all my times are legit with stock tires and everything in the car. im going to go back to the track with some DRs and putting the car on a diet.. we will see what the times are then

my car with just headers was traping anywhere from 110 to 115 depending on driver.

Wow... seems to be a few people that think they know what they are talking about in here.. I can believe in a car being called a factory freak just because all cars are not exactly the same. I mean these engines are not hand built so there are going to be some slight differences BUT, there are a ton of other variables like some of you others said: track conditions, temp., elevation, humidity, driver, etc.. Some of you seem to think you doesn't stink but we need a damn courtesy flush in this biotch!!
