A stall is probably my best bet eh? What kind of stall would you recommend? Im not sure if this would void my warrant through smarautowarranty, maybe something a little stealthier.... another thing is that i can take it to any certified dealership to make a claim, maybe some ar cooler than others

same thing, when you get a new torque converter you normaly get one with a higher stall, in newbi speek a higher stall lets you hold the engine at higher RPM when your holding the brakes. So when you pull up to a stoplight next to some a-hole in a stang you can launch the car at say 3000rpm= a much better launch.

Stall and electric cutout. 10rwhp easy with a stock Z muffler. Add your longtubes and Y later.

Your 3500 TCI is a great choice. If your worried about voiding your warranty I believe yank offers a converter that on looks identical to the factory unit. I think it's called the stealth, and it has either a 2600 or 2800 stall.
It's a bit on the low side for a stall, but will still give you a huge boost in performance.
Plus you don't have to worry about throwing code's, changing shift point's or having to get a tune. Also drop 45 buck's and get a tranny cooler.

So whats the stock stall rated? about a 1500? How difficult is it to swap Torque Converters yourself? What tools do you need? I figure me and my dad could do it some weekend. We've pulled motors but have never messed with transmissions.

Stall and electric cutout. 10rwhp easy with a stock Z muffler. Add your longtubes and Y later.
Is this worth doing on my stock Y pipe, I can always cut them out when i get my o/r Y right....

Same here. There's no better bang for the buck (maybe Nitrous) than a stall!

Welcome to the site and if I was you just get a LS6 intake because you won't see to much of a difference. The fast work's good with bigger cube motor's.

stalls also change the lowest rpm you will encounter when you floor your car.

for example...

On a stock stall, when you floor your a4 (in my case 3.23 rear) from 70 my car drops to third at about 3000 rpm and has to climb from there. With a stall, say a 4000 rpm stall, you will drop to third but the stall will unlock, and your engine will rev upt to 4000 rpm and stay there till you reach a speed, about 90, where you would normally climb above 4000 rpm.

ALSO

other than being able to launch from 3500+ rpm (varies a little from 4000) a 4000 rpm stall will allow you, when under wot, to never go under 4000 rpm.

For example:

say you launch it, you are automatically at 4000 rpm, and will eventually climb up to 6000 rpm when you get to a speed where you would naturally be over 4000 rpm, in my case about 28. This would remain the same for every gear.

Stalls are the best bang for the buck other than nitrous, but i chose to do headers and duals first cause i wanted my car to sound meaner! Your choice, but hopefully that clears up what a stall does....

Ha! That's great!

Not laughing at you like I do at the morons such as are in my sig. Just having a laugh with you.

But, don't give out advice if you're this new. Or, say something like, "I'm a newb and I don't know what a stall is so I would go with exhaust." People are trying to make informed decisions.

Welcome, good color choice BTW. First basic mods would be a lid and a catback.
