In addition, a friend had given me an SLP Dual/Dual that was taken off of his 97 SS 30th aniversary, will that fit on an LS1?
Search is your friend!

Just pick out a lid and go for it!

The SLP Dual-Dual off your friends 97' WILL fit. The only problem might be the hangar for the driver's side of the muffler. I have an LT1 Borla on my 2001 Trans Am, just needed a little fab work from the muffler shop to put it on.

Peace,
Craig.

Default Where to start??

OK guys, im getting a 98 Trans Am next week sometime. Its a 98 with 70K. Only 2 things that have been done was the flowmaster 2 chambers and a ram air hood to replace the stock hood. My question is where should I start? I read alot of the other threads about where to start, so I'm starting to get an idea, but just wanted some more opinions. Also I will be the first to tell you I dont know much about cars aside from audio/video applications. So if you could "dumb it down" for me or point me in a good direction I'd appreciate it.

Is it a 6 speed (M6) or automatic (A4)?

Start with a lid (doesn't matter what one they all give similar hp gains), and some subframe connectors, and if you have an auto, consider a high stall torque converter, or if you have a manual, go fo a shifter (or short stick)
That'll get you started, then read read read the posts about headers, nitrous, handling upgrades, forced induction, appearance etc etc to find out where to go next.
Have fun and enjoy the new ride

Well it is an A4. I spent the few hours reading that, the other one about exhaust systems and some of the newer posts. Once I get up some money after paying for it ( paying cash) I'd like to start modding and am getting a better idea of where I want to start. Just want to say this is definatly a great forum with some really good info, been alot of help already.

Brad
WMRA kit - $130
Magnaflow exhaust - $369
QTP electric cutout - $185
Pacesetter coated LT headers with TSP catted Y - $700
TCI 3500 stall TC (2.5 STR) - $515
B&M 24k tranny cooler - $55
UMI Performance boxed style SFC's - $140
Shock Tower Brace - $80

You can also add a shift kit if you want. It's really a preference mod and it makes shifts more firm. After these basic mods, I'd consider an LS6 intake manifold/ported throttle body or LSX 90/90 combo. Then from there, decide if you want to go N/A or FI. Hope this helps.

No plans on racing it. I am not looking for too much, mid 13's, maybe a low 13's. Might take it to the track a few times with my buddies just for the hell of it, but will definatly be my daily driver.

well mine runs 13.1 (and lower by friday...pray for me) and i hypertech tunned it (shift points and transmisson firmness) , changed the filter to the k&n , flowmaster ( wouldnt recommend that tho , go for a nicer system) , and edelbrock tes shorty headers , spent right at 1k , reasonable budget...

Default Which mod first

Just trying to decide between a TCI 3500 stall ($500) + a few hundred fo install.

or save up and get that pacesetter/TSP O/R Y and Magnaflow catback around $900ish.

I already have BF dr's and a lid on my stock Z28 with 2.73s

Stall it dude.
There is NO better mod per dollar spent, except perhaps nitrous.

Talking

I went with the headers first but wished I had gone with the stall first. Go with the stall....
