I know I thought I got a half way good deal on my '98 Z28 a few years ago when I payed 12K for it with 50K on the clock. Both sound like amazing deals. I would go with the M6 personally. I love mine. Plus if that's what he's really looking for then that's what he should definitly go with. These cars are all about having fun. If he would more enjoy a M6 car then hands down go with the M6!

I'm biased because I wouldn't drive an auto unless it was a drag only car. It's really is a personal decision, I would go M6, but look for an '01-'02, but alot of people love their a4's
