I have a '98 Camaro Z-28 that has a spun #6 bearing with only 88K miles. It had plenty of synthic oil and coolant. I was racing someone around town and it gave up the ghost. I have since bought a engine out of a '04 corvette and hope to have it running by summer.

All 01s and 02s have LS6 blocks. GM quit supporting a seperate assembly line just for LS1 blocks as they're completely interchangeble with the LS6 blocks.
The darker blocks were cast in Mexico while the shinier ones were cast in Canada.
This is a fact.

There is alto of people that are BIG in GM and have about as much of a clue as my girlfriend has about cars. I have only ever heard that there was a few LS6 blocks out there in f-dods. Not sure why they put the block in at all. There is no benifit to it. It is even a little weaker as teh only difference is a opening next to the bottom of the cylinder. GL

As you stated, it's not a big deal, the difference in blocks alone is minor.
