Default The Question

Ok here is the scenario.

2001 Ws6 slightly modded, headers, exhuast 4.10 gear slp lid reprogrammed computer, with 60k miles on it priced at $16.5 I know that this car drives Very well. Lets just say a little birdie told me.

or pay 18k to 20k for a 2000 - 2002 ws6 that has anywhere 20 to 30 thousand miles that isnt modded.

The problem with modded cars is has the previous owner had them installed properly or was it a half assed job that's gonna break a week after you buy it, and are the mods what you're looking for. If you've seen/driven the car, and it's what you want at the price you want to pay. Go for it
For me, I'd spend some extra for the stock one, and mod it the way you want it, but that's just me (seen too many half assed done cars)

well what do YOU want? with the 4.10s i would be a little cautious with 60k and for 1500 bucks more u can get the car stock with half the mileage that way u can do what u want to it. need more infor to dictate solid opinion and i reitereate opinion

very much agreed. You can also get a lower mileage stock ws6 for less than 20K so keep looking.

i would opp for an unmodified car anyday, unless you were the one to do the work on this 2001 ws6 , you dont need to mess with it

I have learned from experience...
Do NOT buy a car that has been modded unless you know the person who did it all and you're sure that he knows what he's doing.

way too expensive in my opinion, you can def find a better deal with lower miles. Keep looking as ive recently seen a 2001 ws6 go for 14.5K with 31K miles

I think there's nothing wrnog with buying a modded car as long as it was cared for. I purchased mine that way and other than the battery when I got it, no problems. Not TO bad a price for that WS6..........

yea if the car is modded but has been built right id def buy it as you can get a modded car much cheaper than it would cost to build it up the same way. However knowing if the car was built right is a whole other issue...

Ok so here is some more info on the car,I have driven it and I must say its a beast. Any further advice on this car from you guys?

www.cardomain.com/ride/2157233

2000 Pontiac Trans Am WS6 6 speed manual for sale. This car is perfect, never wrecked and ALWAYS garage kept. It has 59k miles and adult owned. Black on black with 18x9 black 6 spoke rims. The tires and wheels are 3 months old with 500 miles on them. I installed long tube headers with stainless Random Technology exhaust system and high flow cats as well. Also has a 4.10 rear gears, Eibach 1 inch lowering springs, SLP air lid and the computerhttp: has reprogrammed with HP Tuners software. I am a master technician and I keep this car in excellant condition. I need to sell because I am opening a automotive repair shop the first of the year and need to consolidate my assets. I have got 20k invested and selling for 16.5k firm. Check out my pics at car domain. The car has been lowered after these pics were taken. I will make new ones this weekend.

I'd buy it, as long as the mods were dont right, contact the guy and try to find out the shop who installed the gears, those would be my biggest concern, that they were set right. The guys at the shop probably wont remember the car, but should be able to pull up a reciept. If that all checks out i'd jump al over that, then change the wheels out asap! (just dont like totally black eagles, but thats me). Milage shouldn't be that big of a concern, im at 135k now and it runs like the day i bought it.

I haven't read the above responses so don't flame me for a repeat... but... I would go the more expensive route. I have learned the hard way that modded cars are not good ones to buy. Mainly because they could have been missing a bolt here and there and not cared, and especially with a re-programmed computer they could set it up for drag racing and you'll get 8 miles to the gallon and spin the tires every time you touch the gas. It's a little different on carbeurated cars... but I wouldn't touch an already modified EFI car.
