Default Need some car advice...

Looking into getting a new car around April of next year. I kinda want an LS1, but I cant really find any decently priced ones. Ive also been looking at Mustangs, those two are for quickness factor. Keep in mind Im a student, so reliability is a pretty big factor. Im not too worried about speed(Should at least run some 15s...lol) Comfort should come in to mind also. Been looking to spend around 10k, and must be manual transmission. So heres what Ive been looking at

98+ LS1s
99+ Mustangs
00+ Civic SIs
01+ Civic EXs
00+ Various Volkswagons(GTI, Jetta, Passat. Which ones are good?)

Any other suggestions? Remember spped isnt a huge factor...

Thanks guys...

Just from searching one site, there's several LS1 F-bodies under $11k within 150 miles of where you live.

currently only one manual: http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail...2&aff=national

autos - know that's not what you're looking for, but shows there are more ls1s around in your price range

On the other cars, the diesel Jettas seem to be nice and get good mileage.

your on an ls1 sight, and z28's are the cheapest they come so expect that to be the overwhelming answer, i personally woudl recommend a formula firebird, there a bit mroe comfortable
if your looking for gas milage you must get a manual, auto's dont get but 18 or 19 on the highway, wherase manuals get around 28/29

but if your a student to be completly honest, insurance is going ot be quite high and i would sugest either a v6 fbody, or other similar lesser powerd cars untill you get out.

im 24 and my insurance is $1000 for a 6 month period, thats with one accident, before that it was 855, im with geico, everyone else wanted around 1300-1400/6 months

just have to say that this is wrong. when my car was stock with 3.23s, i was getting 25-26 on the highway, and about 20 in town. now with the mods im still at about 17/23.

"Remember speed isnt a huge factor..."

Well that makes it easy, get a Honda

I think of Honda and Toyota for practicality, reliability and gas mileage.

My nightmare would be getting a Honda or Toyota for practical reasons, then the car breaks down anyway, (they do you know.)

Mustangs are made by and for alien stepford clones, the streets are inundated with them, please don't make the problem worse by getting one...

Get the LS1. Check the local forums to see who is selling a car. There have been a few around here for $5K.

basically, all the cars you listed are slow except for the mustangs and fbodies. With the fbody being faster(except 03/04 Cobra) and getting better gas mileage....how can you go wrong?
