2000 Z28 is this a deal?
A 2000 z28 A4 w/ t-tops, leather, full options with just over 98k. for about 6100. Im worried about spending this much on a car with high l=miles but from what i have read it seems like this is a good deal. It also seems like the ls1 can live on fro about150-160k as long as it is taken care of. I know the basics like check fluids, listen for piston slap(will i be able to tell if its there the piston slap.com sound clip sounds like a damn diesel), listen for rear-end noise, check oil pressure. Only flaws seem to be a little misalinment on the hood and a small rust spot on the dirvers door from a small ding. What are some other tihings i should look for? And does this seem like a fair price?

i bought my 00 z for 9500 with 70k miles last june, i did a carfax and it was in a small wreck, but they did a good job of fixing the damage, plus thats a pretty decent price around here, i would def consider that a wise investment though. GO FOR IT!!!

Yea i am going to go check it out. Ran carfax and there is no reported accident on there. The rust spot is on the little section under the door between the outer side of the seat and the passenger door (sorry if that confuses someone, but its a very small spot). Car has new tires and brakes. What would be some other things to look at that are ls1 specific. AKA Piston slap, trans problems, oil pressure, etc. Can a well maintained ls1 run real strong over 100k. Examples. The only reason i ask is because i have a choice between this car and a 85k 97 z28 mn6. So its a choice between a little less mileage manual LT1 or a higher mileage LS1. Thanks guys

i have a 2000 z28 a4 with 80k on it, it still runs strong, only thing i have replaced, which is common is the window motors (both) and i had a rear main seal leak. which does happen, but don't hear of it to often. the seal is only 80 bucks but to take the tranny out was 350. i hear of some sensors going out every once in a while. they only cost around 60 to change. i would go for the ls1. i paid 10k for mine 2 years ago.
the only thing i would suggest is trying to find a 01 or 02, they come with the ls6 intake allready, if you plan on modding it, that would save you around 500 bucks. the ls1 intake is fine until you start putting cams and heads in, then it will make a difference.

Yea cant really afford tbe 01 or 02s. Here is a bit more info on the car. I ran a vehicle histroy report and it showed good expect for:
-It failed Emission at 88,000 miles
-And it had a lien on the vehicle.
Herei s a link to the pics http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...BUAA%3AUS%3A11
I have 6 days to go buy it before they relist it. Let me know what u guys think.

Based on the pics in the auction, the interior looks horrible, not taken care of at all. Everything else looks decent for the money. I still bet it was in an accident if the hood's not lined up right and they say there's overspray on the passenger window seal. Pretty good price though.

A little scary looking to me. You can see the hood misalignment from any front shot. If they didn't take care of the interior, they might not have taken care of little things like, hmm, oil changes, tranny service, anything that goes bump in the night. Will you have any money left to fix anything that might go wrong? It'd be tough to spend all your cash and have sitting in the driveway with a broken transmission.
Just my thoughts.
