What does a throttle body do?

I agree with all 3. A lot of people port the stock throttle body, which will give ya some gain but some step up to a larger intake manifold which requires a larger than stock throttle body. If your sticking with an LS1 or LS6 intake then I'd just port the stock throttle body, should be sufficient unless your planning on running a lot of power, in which most cases people step up to a larger intake and throttle body anyway.

It regulates the amount of air into the motor...it is similar to a carb on an older car (except that the carb injects fuel as well). A ported throttle body allows you motor to injest more air so you can make more horsepower
reminds me of when my sister asked what oil does in a motor
