I know for my husband and I, there is ~$20 different in the monthly insurance payments between a Formula Firehawk and a WS6 Trans Am. We have State Farm, and a lot of the difference is due to they don't have the Firehawk package in their computer system so our firehawk is seen as just a formula in their computer. They do have the WS6 package though, and in this case, it causes the rates to be slightly higher.

YRMV, but this is what my agent told me when I was shopping for my F body, the Formula is the cheapest, then Z28, then T/A, then SS, then WS6, there was quite a bit of difference between the Formula and the WS6, as far as cost, it was ~$800/yr for the Formula and $1200/year for the WS6.
The why, is due to the cost of the car, and the average cost of repair parts (guess the WS6 hood is close to $2k)
FWIW an ls1 is an ls1, get the one that's the cheapest insurance, being 18 you're going to need all the discount you can get

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but can anyone explain the main differences between the Formula and T/A?? And is there a Camaro equivelent to the Formula?? Or is it just a Firebird thing??

LS1 Trans ams come standard with ttops and leather. You could get a 98-01 formula with a hardtop if you wanted, but in 2002 all firebirds v6 or v8 were ttops. If you compared apples to apples same interior and wheels, a formula was about $800 cheaper brand new. They are the same car, exept the formula has the v6 body and the trans am gets the different bumpers, wing and side skirting.

i have a formula, i was originally lookin for a ws-6 but couldnt quite afford it, now i wouldnt trade my formula for a ws-6. they grow on ya pretty quick. I see ws-6's quite often in my area, there's even a local CETA and 99 aniversay edition style ones on the same street as me, but I have one of 2 formula's i know to be in teh area. I'm just gonna put a ram-air hood on it and be done.
As far as insurance goes, my vin reads my car as a 98 formula/trans am , so my insurance is the same way. If it doesnt have the Ws-6 option then the price should be the same.
also my car came stock with leather interior and all that good stuff
