Default Dream car

I am currently in the market for a new car. While my current 3rd gen camaro is fun and all, it just dosen't have the performance Im looking for.
I have been looking at ls1 f-bodys for a while now and I really want a ws6 trans am. I'll have approx $13,000 to spend on the car, is this enough to get a ws6 t/a? If not, what kind of ls1 car can I get for 13k?

yeah 13k is enough, just need to find a good dealer or private seller in your area. but if your willing to make some payments or gather up another 4k then you should have no problem getting one at all. good luck and the LS1s are fast and best looking cars on the road IMO.

Sure ya can. The WS6 might be a pre 01-02 model but there are plenty out there. You can find a lot of ls1s out there for under 13k.

For ***** and giggles take a look on autotrader.com. I think you'll be surprised how many ls1s are out there for under 13k with decent miles.

thanks for the quick replys.
does anyone know what percentage of trans am's were sold with T56 tranny's? Most ls1's I find in my area (northern NJ) are 4 speed auto's.

I got my 31,000 mile 99 Trans Am(non WS6)in mint cond. for $13,500. With taxes and all the BS it was a little over $14,000. So they're out there you just got look everywhere and you'll come across a good deal.

ok, I have been looking arround now, posted here in the wanted vechicles section, checked out some local dealerships and of course looked online every night for hours on end.

Car1
its a 99 t/a ws6 with 61000 on the clock. says he's asking $15,200. Does this sound like alot with that kind of milage? how much do you think I can knock this price down?

Car2
This car is practically in my backyard. 99 t/a ws6 with 17k on the clock. I might be willing to take out a loan to get this one due to its low miles, again how much lower do you think I can knock the price on this one?

Don't know about the price, but FWIW, that is mileage is quite low... that is a seven-year-old car, so that's only about 8,700 miles per year.

The used-car 'standard' average mileage is 15,000 per year, which means the typical car of that age would be more like around 105,000 miles. So being only a little over half of the amount of miles that would be expected, could make it more expensive than it would be otherwise.

Hey, my roommate is looking to sell his car. 1999 Trans Am. It is not a real WS6 but it has an OEM WS6 hood off of a wrecked car with functional gm ram-air. It is a fully loaded automatic car with 41,xxx miles. It needs new front tires desperately. He's lookin for $13,500 for it. Let me know if interested or if you want more info on it.

There are good deals out there you just have to look and lowball people alot and sometimes they will accept lowballs. Thats how i got mine for so cheap. I offered a guy on ebay thousands less than what the car was worth through a pm and he ended the auction and called me up. Just be patient and youll find the right one. I personally would want lower miles than 60k but to each his own.

BTW: i got the car in sig with 40k miles $16,000

I ended up knocking him down to $13500! It's the exact car I wanted, miles are a little high but I only drive about 400-500 miles a month, so its not really that big a deal. Hopefully I can get some pics of it up tonight.
