Yeah if you read the bottle their worth 10 octaine points then in small print it says 10 octain points is equal to 1 octain number at the pump.

funny this came up b/c ive been running 87 for a tank or two the put premium 93 in it and it does run a hell of a lot better with the 93 no more 87 for her

Oh no? Explain to me the difference between more octane vs more timing? If you know why, please explain. It's called TUNING. The difference is with more octane you can compensate timing. Don't worry it's a forged motor, matter of fact it only runs 10.2 on 87 I bet if we stuck 93 in it might go 10.00. I guess you have to run cats in Cali, whereas we don't in FL

And for the person who was complaing about people saying "we could be in Europe", hell I am in Europe and I havent once complained about gas yet... Ive complained about alot of other stuff, but not gas... and my TA is my DD (cause if I was driving the Charger everyday then I might be complaining).
95RON is fine running superunleaded such as 97 or 98 RON probably won't get you much unless you tune for that grade of fuel. I'm not sure how clever the PCM is in a LT1 but I don't think it will dramatically alter the timing which is what would be required for more power with a higher octane fuel.

I watched a test not long ago where they dyno tested 3 cars using regular 95RON and Superunleaded 97RON.

One car was a little city car (1.0 litre range), another was a Golf GTi (non turbo) and lastly a Subaru Impreza STi.

There appeared to be no HP increase with the city car, 6hp in the Golf and 20HP with the turbocharged Impreza.

FI cars really respond well to higher octane fuel.

I understand that you can compensate for lower octane fuel by pulling timing, all I'm saying is why would you want to? Why not just run gas that's less prone to detonation, especially in a higher compression motor that's spraying a 150 shot. I'm not flaming you in any way and you probably know more about it than me, but it seems safer to me to run higher octane fuel and still tune the car properly.

And yes, CA sucks for performance mods, smog, politics, cost of living...but the weather is nice...

Can you even still get 94, i know sunoco used to have 94 and i used to get that, but they switched over to 91 and made 93 the new ultra, but I get 93 wherever I go, nothing less. I don't get people, say regular is 2.00 and the 93 is 2.30, and you fill up 10 gallons, its 20 dollars compared to 23 dollars, some people have to stop being such cheap asses, what are you going to buy with 3 extra dollars, some junior cheeseburgers at wendys?

Thanks for the input, Im planning on getting a cable to do a little programming and just monitor the car so maybe then I can tune for a higher octane (after some mods).

Im probably gonna catch some **** for this but i have never run anything but 87 in my car and have never had a problem. Even with the cam still runs like a beast but until i start to make more money 87 is what she'll get. Shes never had it so it's not like she knows what she's missing. LOL

So I'm not sure how many other places are trying this gas w/ ethanol, but I hate it. I went and took my car to get tuned today and found out that just 10% eth. leaned my car out almost 2 whole points. We initially tuned it for 11.0-11.5 and today the first pull was 12.5 to 13.0. I've changed nothing on the car except for the gas. :-\ F*ck Ethanol and MTBE!!

On a completely unrelated note, F*ck Green Peace!

Like it was said earlier...Octane Boost = 1 point per bottle approx....might as well buy better gas....but why does everyone use it and they sell alot of it I would guess..is it hype ??

i dont think ethanol is about green peace.... supposedly, MTBE(i think that is right) in initial studies has been shown to cause disease if it gets into water then into our bodies. Gas companies petitioned congress to give them immunity from large class action lawsuits if the studies prove true, but congress refused. This forced gas companies to switch to ethanol sooner than planned....

Oh, and I use 93 octance now, ONLY.... initially, i used 87 like an idiot, but that only lasted 2 fill ups
