Default 98-02 T/a's

Im sorry to ask such a noobish question but i know that between the 98 and 02 Camaros there were small changes each year. My question is basically were there the same thing for the T/a? Also if so which is the best year (problem free, ect.)

Same changes apply mechanical-wise. Best years are 01-02 because they are newer and they have the LS6 intake, other than that, any year of LS1 is fine.

Check the stickies at the top of this page:

https://ls1tech.com/forums/new-ls1-owners-newbie-tech/213148-jrp-s-faq-commonly-asked-questions.html

Read "differences between the years" and specific 01-02 changes, for starters. There is no single "best year", but if you are willing and able to pay more for an otherwise equal car most would probably get an 01-02. There are some great deals on 98s, though, and there is nothing wrong with them.

Pretty much the difference is the intake, and i believe they have a better oil pump and Timing chain.

They do have a different computer (in some way) than the later years. One of the quirks of that year.

I doubt it's that high given cars in equal condition with the same transmission on similer dynos.

Even so, save money buying an older car and once you start modding it's all the same. The 01-02 cars come stock with an LS6 intake, and the manifolds improved at some point.

Once you do the most basic of modifcations an LS1 is an LS1 is an LS1.

I have heard the difference between 853's and 241's is about 10 RWHP.
