beginning mods a4 ls1
well im picking up my ls1 soon with in 2 weeks.. and i was looking at an 02 ta som w/ 25k miles for 16.5k .. anyways i was wondering for the mods im choosing as beginning mods if these would be good.. I was looking at just an slp lid / a qtp cutout / hypertech. and later on (few monthes) a tci / fuddle 2800-3000 stall w/ tranny cooler / 75-100 wet shot / ported TB . this is my DD and i want something thats fast but is tame on the streets, unless i wanna unleash .
thanks for the input.

i would hold off on the hypertech and get a good dyno tune. they can do so much more, and its required to get a tune after mods like headers and cams, both of which i would suggest, headers especially if you want to get the most out of your nitrous. you dont have to go big on your cam to gain alot of power. big cams arent always the best per application. hell, some will give you 50 rwhp and sound very close to stock. just think about it..

Feels great I think, should have done it sooner. Just cant get on it hard or I'll be in the other lanes spinning out, untill my new tires get here.

Don't forget to add a trans cooler to your tranny after you do the stall (your trans will thank you)
LS6 manifold, if it's an 02 he's already got that
Port the throttle body
A set of headers and a nice catback will give you a good performance increase, and make the car sound like a muscle car
Lid good first mod (one of the most common things to do first) remember a lid is a lid, so go with what your wallet and eyes like
Hypertech, forget it not worth the price, go with the HPtuners/EFI live, not much more money but can do sooo much more, if you don't want the full tuning suite, go with a Crane/Vinci handheld, probably one of the better handhelds
That should keep you happy for a little while

Listen to me on this one man! I have the mods in my sig which is pretty good since Ive only had my car around 2 months or so its running real good. But I wish I could do it all over again and get a stall tranny cooler and a gear I wouldve spent less and Id be faster than I am now. STAL GEAR TIRES!!!! Maybe not the gear but DEFINATELY the stall and tires.

All you need to get started is a Yank SS3600 and a set of Nitto Drag radials. This and or a 100 shot will get you the best bang for the buck. I can tell you from experience when it comes to torque converters you get what you pay for.

stay away from the SLP flopack. it's a real draw for new owners because of the horsepower rating. don't get me wrong, their lid is fabulous, but the fast toys ram air is much better and the smooth bellows is worthless.
lid, catback, stall, headers. you'll be into 12's fo' sho'
