Not even 300bhp when GM rated them at 305bhp and its accepted that they where underated anyhow. Think you need to go check some numbers up.
A 1998 car probably makes somewhere in the region of 325-345bhp SAE Net in stock trim.
Although if you don't understand why it won't be making 400bhp @ 6000rpm stock then knowing the bhp figure is also pretty meaningless as well, as you'd have no idea what it really respresented.

This is pretty damn funny coming from someone with that much work done to their car. A 98 LS1 FBody will dyno at 285-300rwhp. That is about 335-345 bhp.
