It is perfectly fine. Infact, you should start to cherish this sensation.

Oh yes, that does happen with LS1s even stock, if you are on questionable tires.

My WS6 would do that on the stock Eagle F1 GS tires once they had about 5K miles on them. Punch it from a ~25mph roll, it'd downshift to 1st, get good traction, then as it came up to 5000rpm the tires would start to spin and cause it to short shift. Drove me nuts, because the short shifting would kill my shift extension for the next gear and dump me at way too low of an RPM.

Only thing I needed to fix the issue was some better tires.

LOL, that's the exact same tire I switched to. Worked great for me as well, even on my cam + bolt-on + 3500 stall WS6.

haha, my tires start to break loose in 2nd gear around 3500rpms. In first gear it's a joke to think about going wot at any rpm even with 315/25/17's. However, I do have Sumitumo's.

mine breaks loose at around 4200rpm's in second w/ pretty new z-rated tires. i know the z-rates are my problem and that's about to change. atleast in the rear.

You break the tires loose basically being stock and 3.73 gears at 4200rpms. Wow, either you have terrible tires or you are in the rain.

my Trans Am has never done this actually, always right off the line. It does it in the rain thats about it. When my tires are bald it will wheel hop however... really sucks. Now i have Mickey T's and no traction issues.

On my camaro, cam only 1st is pointless. Half throttle will break the POS tires loose in 1st and 2nd. In 2nd and third however @ WOT it will do like you are saying and spin the tires @ a higher RPM if i do get traction to begin with

I think the reason for this is 1 tread, and 2 tire size. I have a 25-26" tire on my camaro but i need a 28x10.5 and my trans am is now @ around 28 1/4" tire

Your car had ungodly wheel hop. I thought I was in a Cobra. FWIW, my car would break 'em lose with a lid and LS6 intake, then again it had Continental Touring tires when I bought it. They sucked. When I had cheap Defender 285's on my chrome 10-spokes, even with my stall and bolt-ons, it would stick through the whole gear. The same setup on 17" F1's was horrible in comparison.

I could do it when I had KDWS's in 1st and 2nd gear, but I have 4.11's.

I have 285 BFG KDW's and they get great traction at low speeds, but from a stop they spin alot, depending on throttle.

Rain traction is great too

4.10 gears is why 1st is useless on the street. I bet it's fun at the track

It was useless with 3.73's too. It also could be because I'm on sumitumo tires and 390rwhp.

I have Eagle F1 285/40's out back, and they are incredible with the traction. I can bark them if I take off quickly or if I grab 2nd hard, but besides that they just won't break lose

All of my friends and I had LT1 cars back in the day and I let them drive the LS1 when I brought it home....

Everyone of them took off slow and then railed on it..and everyone had to let off because at the top of first the car would start to slide out on them... LMAO... LT1 vs LS1 is a completely different experience.

yeah when i first got my car after about 2 weeks of driving i decided to play a little, i did the wot all the way through first and i felt something at the top of first like tires breaking free but thought nothing of it and shifted hard to 2nd and was instantly sideways. and when i say sideways i mean sideways, like making a b line for the median, i almost **** myself.
