Question inexpensive modifications??

Hello everyone, Just want to introduce myself and get input from all of the experts. I have a 2002 SS M6 it has the SLP option from the factory. What are some inexpensive engine mods to improve drag times? Also what is the story on the skip shift? I see that SLP performance offers an over ride module is it worth the $31.00 plus shipping? Thanks to any and all of you that can help.

Hey, first of all welcome! The first thing you wanna do is all of the free mods and then see how you feel about the car and how much quicker you want it to be. Define inexpensive and we'll go from there. Everyone i know has the skip shift removed, its quite annoying. Not sure about the pricing, you might be able to get it from someone else cheaper, you will find alot of people who really do not like SLP, they are quite overpriced with most things. I would start with a lid and go from there, whisper or TSP. Good Luck

Even with the filter crap gets to the screen every now and then, not sure how. When I put in the SLP lid i found some bugs, dried grass, etc on the screen.

When you remove the screen your car will run differently as well. You will be getting more air without the computer knowing. It is easier to just wait until you have enough money for a bigger or ported maf and a tune. It doesn't do you any good to remove the MAF screen.

how much money are you going to put into the car and do you have any goals for it (12 second, 11 second, etc.) also is this your daily driver or just a weekend warrior??
but as the other people have said do the free stuff, then lid and a cut-out. a short throw shifter is always fun also. do not forget about the basic maintance stuff too, make sure all the fluids are good.

I agree with everyone. Don't remove your MAF screen. I did and I am paying for it. SES light is on, fault is lean, bank 1 bank 2 o2 sensor replaced SES still on. Bought a new MAF $$$, SES still on code still says lean. Don't know where to go from here. JUST DON"T DO IT.
