are lt1 and ls1 very different?

are lt1 and ls1 very different?
i have a 95 lt1 and i have been looking into getting a 02 ls1. my question is are they pretty much the same car except for the front nose and about a 1.5 second faster in the quater mile? would it be better to do a stroker swap in my 95 than to spend $$$$ on a 02 ls1?

teh ls1 motor is completely different... you might as well compare the lt1 to a 10k rpm built honda k series. only similarity between a ls1 and a lt1 is cam in block and 8 cylinders.
if you already ahve a lt1, upgrade it...do a stroker.

Everything is interchangible. Dash, console, seats, rear, tranny, wheels, exterior, taillights, hatchbacks, etc.
The driveline's are different.

it has the same rear and both F bodies but its a whole different car, different engine, wiring, CPU, it would probally be cheaper to upgrade your LT1 b/c its older and probally cheaper then a 02 SS, its all a matter of what you like

the lt1 engine is not "weak" at all. in modded form, the lt1 can be just as potent as the ls1. the stroker kit with the right heads and cam will give you more than enough power to put you in the low 12 range, and if that wont put a huge grin on your face then idk what will lol. from a comfort perspective though, most ls1's are going to be nicer because they are newer. finding a nice lt1 car is significantly harder than finding a nice ls1 car.

yea, probally once you get into stroker and bigger cams the whole LS1/LT1 argument becomes irrelivent b/c your basically replacing so much and usually gettin better heads and whatnot, but when you just add bolt-on's LS1>LT1 all day long

thats what i mean pretty much the same car same feel from behind the wheel except an extra 40hp. still a pushrod v8 just some upgraded features .i think dropping in a stroker motor is a better move than to spend $$$$$$$ for a ls1 car with only 40hp. gain. this way with the stroker it will be a real dramatic difference and it will really feel like a different car.
Its worth spending the extra money to start with an LS1.

who gives a **** about CPU and wiring differences the 98's had a different PCM from the later ls1 cars, the 93's had a different style of PCM compared to the later LT1's what difference does it make? like anything there are refinements over the years such as interior pieces but the point is its a 4th Gen F-body the parts are completely interchangable
completely different cars are 3rd Gens and 4th gens where the actual underpinnings of the car are different
