Well an ATI Procharger kit will run you around 4 grand and get you about 500rwhp on a stock block without any other modification. The only thing is you might blow your cluch, transmission, or rear end with them staying stock. The STS turbo charger is about the same way just alittle cheaper. I think if you check the part 4 sale section of this sight you would find both right now.

That might be the case but i've been racing street bikes since i've been 18 and have had some pretty fast cars. i just got rid of my 3000gt and have driven my friends 96 trans am. which ran a 11.3 in a 1/4 mile. i know i can handle a trans am. but i should insist on a heads and a cam. how much do u think a whole set up like this is gonna run me? do u think 5 grand with parts and labor should cover it?

Cougar where are you located? Stay away from the dealership and find a sponsor on this site if you can for the installs. As for mods, go with some coated pacesetters/ory/magnaflow for exhaust, if its an auto go for a 3200+ stall, if its a manual get an ls7/ls2 clutch/flywheel combo, some LCA's, Adj panhard rod, subframe connectors, ls6 intake manifold, ported stock TB, 25% pulley, either an MS3 or MS4 cam (both I believe work fine with stock heads), then get a full dyno-tune. That should be around 4-5K at a reputable shop, even less if you can do it yourself. Toss in some good tires and you should see low 12's high 11's depending on your driving skills.

i'm located in az. the total price that i can spend is like i said 4-5 maybe 6 grand. the tire and rims that i'm getting is gonna run me around a grand alone. i want 2 put the widest tires possible on the back and the stock up front. i'm looking at a head and cam combo i found here on the sponsors web site is $2,955.55. http://www.slponline.com/browse_list.asp are these a good price? i still want 2 stay street legal 2.

all this H/C talk, and only one post mentioning the rear axel,,,,if you are planning on going with all that stuff,,be prepared to spend at least a grand on an axel that will be able to handle the power you are throwing it. I still have a hard time beleiving it, but going just a tad over stock (lid maf, etc) can put our puny 10 bolt rear axels at risk of snapping. if you are an A4,,your risk may not be as bad,,but if your an M6,,,start saving now.

Thats a good start, id also throw in some lower control arms, weld in subframe, and an adjustable panhard rod (all can be purchased from UMi performance). Also, stay away from the slp H/C combos as they usually dont put up the numbers they advertise. Id go with a texas-speed setup, such as an MS3 cam and the Terminator heads they offer. Also, your going to need a torque stall converter and a B&M tranny cooler. If you take it easy on the stock 10-bolt it will last a little while but as Bad Blue said with over 400 rwhp and sticky tires your on borrowed time on your stock rear end.

cool, well you gotta get a stall converter to match your setup, I wouldnt get an LS7 clutch like mentioned earlier because they are overpriced, and heavier than most aftermatket clutches.

We need to know what EXACTLY you want this car to do, we dont know YOUR definition of "fast/Drag", so we can better suggest diffrent parts to do certain things.

well i still want a street legal car and want 2 take it out to the track and smoke all the hondas and rice burners. i'd be happy with high 11's for now. how hard is it 2 install the stall converter. i do want 2 to some of the work myself but dont want 2 f it up.
i'm thinking for sure i'm getting some heads and cams just got to figure out which ones. thanks for all the help guys. i'm sure that i will have still tons of questions.

All you have to do for high 11's is get a Tr224(Thunder racing), LS6 intake, Headers+catback(pacesetter/Magnaflow) with a 3200+ Stall(TCI) and some (BMR)lower control arms and sticky tires(BFG Drags).

Estimate: $3,050.00(ALL new parts)
To install stall seperate tranny from engine via the bellhousing take old torque converter out, lube up new stall put it in put it back together, tune it. (Correct me if im wrong, im an M6 guy)

I dont think you will be able to hit 10's with just the 224 cam and a good set of heads...if your looking for 10's then id go with a bigger cam, say maybe the torquer v2 or v3 or MS3 and some spray, say maybe a 100 shot. Either way though your going to need a big stall and a 12 bolt or 9 inch rear as your 10 bolt will break very quickly with that much power and a sticky tire. Plus I dunno how long your stock auto tranny will last laucnhing at high rpms. 10's are def not cheap.

high 10's is a maybe,,i dont how you are driver wise. Check out Thunder Racing on the net,,,someone mentioned the 224,,,awesome cam! (stay away from the cheater cam package if your lookin for big power,,its good,,but i think you want "wild", and not "mild") And if your spending the bucks,,,get as much bang for the buck.

There are "free" mods that you can do as well....check out sites like installuniversity.com for some easy, free stuff you can do.

LS1howto.com is another good one.
