Default Best First Mod

This is my first time posting here so hello to everyone.

Ok my question is this: I have a BONE stock A4 02 z28 and I dont know what I should buy first: exhaust, gears,or a torque converter? Gear wise the car has 2.73s . I want to know what is going to be the best "bang for the buck" mod. Thanks for the help and any imput would be appreciated.

Welcome to the board!

Tons of options for the first mods, but perhaps the best in my opinion is the LS6 intake, maybe some longtubes and a good tune.

That should definitely make a change in the car.

The list goes on and on. Check the dyno results section and the LS1/6 internal section to see what parts work and what don't. Should give you a good idea of what you'd like to do.

Good luck!

Chris
150 shot of nitrous. Great dollar to Hp ratio.
If you dont want to spray, then i would say headers and catback or duals, torque converter, and lid. Those are good starting mods, and the torque converter will really get the auto moving good.

Yeah i would do torque converter and gears. The gears feel like fifty hp going to a 3.73 from a 2.73. Then i would the air part in and out. Headers intake and tune. Have fun and read the stickies there is some good info in those.

Thanks for all the imput everyone. First off I am going to be doing more research before I buy anything. I think I am stuck between a TC or gears. Out of those two which one is going to make the biggest difference. I am not sure about TC because this is my first AT car I have owned. I do know that going from 2.73 to 3.73 would make a big difference. Would a TC make a bigger difference. Thanks again.

Chris
1) lid
2) torque converter
3) headers and exhaust, if money is an issue, cat-back first, then headers
4) gears

You will see a WAYYYY bigger improvement with a tc over gears.

I went from 13.5 to 12.5 and picked up 3 mph after a tc and sticky tires. That was with lid only, stock manifolds and exhaust. 100 shot with same mods as above and went 11.5
you will not see anything like those improvements with gears. I guarantee that.

A lid will offer a noticable gain in throttle response, and the price is right too.
