Ok im going to test drive a camaro ss and would like some facts about how to c if it's a true ss

Look in the driver side door, if its a 98+. Look for the WU8 code, if its there, it is, if not, its not.

i almost bought a 99 "ss" at an auction, but thought that something was a little off...the exhaust, sure enough, no "wu8" on the door. imho- if you buy a z28 and want the ss rims, hood, spoiler, etc...cool, but i don't like when people switch the emblems.

If the WU8 is there and you still feel a little uncertain, compare the VIN from the dash to the door. Never really heard of people swapping doors though to pass it off though... Good luck

some of the ss camaros had the stock z28 exhaust, the ss exhaust was an option.

The RPO code "WU8" is the key, as these guys have mentioned. Good luck, man!

Cloth Interior.. HARDTOP!

WTF??? the lightweight SS!

Codes: WU8. I also have Y2Y (SS emblems on both sides)

Y2Y just means it went to SLP for alteration. you can hve WU8 without Y2Y and still have a true SS.
