I'm pretty sure I've heard of M6 B4C Camaros before, but you'd probibly have better luck finding a hardtop Z28 and painting the roof and pillars.

due to additional equipment weight. I've seen some 14.50's out of them.

The ones a major magzine tested went 13.7's @ (around) 105, not terrible for weighing quite a bit.

yes, there were quite a few M6 B4Cs, but almost all of those never saw police service. police cars are almost exclusivly automatics because they have to operate radios, computers etc all while driving. if you want a car like you were describing you really want a 1SC "striper" cars, and then paint the top body color

there is no tuning diffrencve on cop cars, accept it, they are just normal LS1s, police cars arent anything special at all anymore

Lot of good info you posted above, except even when you account for "non-cop" B4C's, there are still very very few M6's. I have seen the production numbers for several years and the B4C M6's were very few in number every year that I looked at.

My buddies B4C went 13.01@108 in completely stock trim with an M6. It is an 02 and his dad was driving at Bradenton Motorsports Park over a year ago.

B4Cs came about at the end of third gen production. 89 or 90 i belive. they had upgraded suspension and brakes, no t tops and aluminum drive shafts most if not all were 1LE cars also. with the LT1s the only diffrences were a bit stiffer suspension and no t tops available. all automatics had 3.23 gears and all had alumium driveshafts.

with the LS1 B4Cs the only diffrences were that the top was body color, never had t tops, it didnt say Z28 and all A4s came with 3.23s. other than that its identical to a base Z28 hardtop. after i got my B4C from the indiana state police with 130,000 miles on it it ran a 13.2 @ 104. bone stock, no drag radials, no nothing. i cant immagine what this car did when it was new. yeah cops carry around a lot of gear, but i highly doubt that the cop who had this car carried enough stuff in it to even bring it into the 14 second range. that means he would have to have over 1000 lbs consisting of him, a computer, radio, shotgun and paperwork, which is higly unlikely. even when police cars these cars were very fast and deffinatly quicker than 99% of the cars on the road
LS1 police cars also come with the otherwise optional power steering cooler, and a higher charge rate alternator.

The State Troopers in Maryland had LS1 Camaros all of which were unmarked. I was told about one interesting mod that was installed by a local Chevy dealer. They had a switch to deactivate the daytime running lights and automatic headlights. That way the cops wouldn’t be conspicuous when they were sitting in their car with the engine running (for the A/C in the summer or for heat in the winter) while on stakeout or sitting alongside the road at night with radar.

I found out about the mod when I went to the dealer looking for a connector pin I needed to do the same thing. I expected that the parts guy would think my request was strange but he simply said, "Oh, you’re doing the State Police mod. I know exactly what you’re talking about."

I thought I would get into this conversation as i just sold my 99 B4C.

It was the Navy Blue with a 6 speed tranny and it had uprgraded suspension and power steering cooler. I loved the car it had 154,000 miles when I sold it and still ran like a top and didn't burn oil.

It was one of only 12 6 speeds made in 99 and used to be a part of the Nebraska State Patrol.

The thing I can't believe is that the 6 speeds were so rare yet Nebraska had 3 of them at one time.

My 99 b4 I bought it a 2001 and a 2002 just really awesome cars
The 2002 is still in commission where I live in fact

Just giving you guys an idea on things

Did it have manual; windows, seats, mirrors, base radio, etc. (basically a "stripper" car)??

ok, this is SLIGHTLY off topic, but my brother in law had an interesting "cop car". it was a neon or a saturn (one of those plastic body pieces of s---) and it was being made in the same factory as cop engines. They had to get the thing off the line, so they slammed an interceptor engine in it. Don't ask me how it worked, I have no idea. He wrecked the car before I ever got a chance to see or drive it, but he claims is was very very quick. I normally wouldn't believe a story like that, but he is not prone to lying...

Read the stickies at the top of each forum, you can get a good knowledge base there.

No "chip" in these cars for starters.

Not all B4C's had the power steering cooler. Nor did they all have matching paint roofs. The 98 B4C was not your typical B4C...

Thanks for Cop Car and some other members who know what they are talking about. There is alot of bad info here

You guys can get some breakdowns of M6,A4 and also tranny and color breakdowns here

http://camaroz28.com/articles/

My B4C was purchased about 1 1/2 months ago and it was formerly a Philly F.B.I car. It has 117,000 miles on it and runs just as good as my 2001 SS with 60k. It did have alot of extra wiring and some left over equipment.

The Camaro cop I talked to in Tampa said he had a chip and that was all to the engine. He also said he went 174 chasing a motorcycle.

Yeah, just -feint!- towards him ever so slightly and see what happens....

Nothing dumber than cops chasing bikes, etc at 150+ no matter the vehicle.

And he's a moron. For the millioneth time, F-bodies haven't had a "chip" since 1993.
