Default i know this is such a cliche question...

...but i put chevron premium in my car only. i heard chevron is the best you can get. do u agree? chevron also advertises to avoid putting low quality gas in your car as this causes problems (know that little cartoon posters they have of the hot rod with eyes hesitating to accept gas?)the best 3 station to use i heard from a dealership is chevron, shell and 76. i chose to go with chevron as i heard somewhere that shell is bad and 76 doest seem so um i dunno... but the other day i was so out of gas and couldnt risk my car dying out, so i went to the shell i came across. after fueling with shell i noticed that my car felt better, accelerated better and was quicker!! now tell me its just me... thanks!

Personally, I doubt there'd be a huge difference.

And my dad delivers fuel for a living, and claims that Chevron has more water in its fuel then any of the other terminals he delivers to.

Of course someone'll point out how a little bit of water isn't bad and is, as a matter of fact, a good thing. But I kindly point out that to much of anything isn't good.

well i think it depends on your location what station is the best. i really doubt you could feel a difference from the gas though. probably in your head. and FWIW i have heard that all the gas around here comes from the same place. i forget how exactly it works but basically all the stations buy from the same whole saler so it is the same gas.

Ive ONLY run shell 91 oct, ive been able to get sunoco 94, but I still think the shell is better overall in the long run(seems to run better). My GTP conversly will NOT take to kindly to shell 91(it pings like nothing else, as did my parents olds ciera 3.3L) but runs ok on sunoco 91, best on 94.....it gets 91!

obviously your probably gonna want to go with one of the big three. They have a rep to uphold so even if one is better than the other you know that as long as your filling up at one of the 3 your car is gonna be happy. Either way,.your gonna want to throw some octain boost and or fuel injector cleaner every now and then and also swap out your fuel filter every 10-15K miles. To be perfectly honest. Thats when you'll feel your fuel really do'n its job.

I used to use Amoco. Then I stopped once BP bought all the stations (I can't stand BP stations, they look like crap, LOL). For the last 5 years or so it's been nothing but ExxonMobil for me, 93 octane only for the LS1.

I have never noticed a difference in any brand of gas.

Just use the good stuff.

For daily driving, I don't care what gas station it comes from as long as it's
93 or 94 octane.

I agree with everyone else, go to any reputable gas station and get their 93/94 octane gas. I usually go to a shell, exxon, mobil, or hess. I stay away from smaller unknown brands basically because you never know how stale their gas is and for how long its been sitting around whereas with major stations, such as the ones listed above, they are pumping out massive amounts of gas each day from the stations and refilling on a more frequent basis so your probably going to get better gas. Thats JMO though.

Same thing...620. That was just a precautionary thing on the dyno.
Timing is only 18* and A/F is 11.4:1 across the board.
It's a pump gas tune. However, I just ordered some stuff to up the
boost to 23psi and to spray it with a good sized shot. I'll keep the 19psi/pump
gas tune for daily driving and a race tune (race gas) when it's set on
murder.

Nice, yea i cant wait to see what it makes on the race gas, 23 psi, and spray, that will be insane! So are you keeping the cobra and going turbo or are you going FI lsx vette?

It seems that I change my mind all the time. I'm pretty sure
that I'm just going to finish paying it off then start an LSx project.
Might as well keep it right?

I'm not sure what kind of power it's going to make. I'm still running stock
manifolds so I'm sure that will hurt power some...665-675rwhp on the
blower would be my guess at 23psi. Who knows on the sauce, 750-775? Not
sure. The clutch might not even hold that kind of power.

Yea I hear ya...I was all set to go forged 347/ds1c on my camaro, then decided I wanted to buy a house so I sold the camaro, but then got a new job as a hedge fund analyst and almost doubled my salary so i didnt need to sell the car which sucked, and then insted of getting the c5 z06 i wanted (03 z06, 12K miles, $30K) I got the g35x for me and jaguar x-type for my GF because I figured id love the luxury and wouldnt miss the speed. Wrong. Now I am not sure if I want to go H/C c5 z06 maybe with spray, maggie or procharged c5 z06, turbo f-body, turbo ls2 gto, 03-04 turbo cobra, or maybe an old school lsx powered camaro/chevelle....lol I have more ideas in my head than I know what to do with and I change my mind daily, but I need something with speed soon, maybe an R1 or GSXR-1000, but again as im sure you know being 6'8 on a bike isnt easy. Im glad I just dont act on my impulses or id be broke with like 10 cars haha.

Damn unit, Thats a lot of power

I only use chevron but in CA we have 91 octane. Your rarely find any higher than that. I've heard about a few stations that have higher but they are rare. I've never actually seen one.

Do they offer any clutches, like say a mcleod twin disk, for the cobra? 750-775 rwhp is out of this world! I want to slowlyu step up to those kinds of levels. My camaro was making 370 rwhp and that was fast but I got used to it so I want to try for 450 or so rwhp and see how that is on the streets, then go from there. Too many people out there looking for 700 rwhp cars who have never experience that kind of power and usually end up wrapping themselves around a tree and I def dont want to be one of those people.

When I'm getting gas, I stick to the more reputable stations, mainly Shell, but I'll never go to an older looking station. Their tanks could've been there since the 60s and who knows the last time they got em cleaned out. If you feel like having a good laugh, ask one of the people inside when was the last time their tanks and filters have been cleaned. I will go to a new station or lesser known gas before I go to a Chevron that looks like it was built when Carroll Shleby was born.

I just go to an Exxon and get their supreme 93 otcane, basically you just want to go to a station that moves a lot of gas and one thats always busy. This way you know that new gas is being put back in the tanks more often. You dont want old gas sitting in tanks for long periods of time.

They sure do, but it's a on/off-type clutch that isn't streetable. I don't
want to go that route. I'm considering going with a 4R70W (auto).

I couldn't agree with you more and that is a very mature way to approach
it. 700rwhp will kill you if you don't respect it. However, 600hp does become commonplace and boring if you can believe it. It's a never
ending quest.
