LS1 is an ENGINE I keep reading posts where someone is reffering to their ride by calling it an LS1. 
Even drivers of V6 model Fbody's are doing it.
What's up with that?

I wasn't trying to start a flame war but in the past week on this site I have seen at least two threads likeWhat is the best LS1 color?
Or how does an LS1 handle in snow/rain?
I just wanted to make sure that I hadn't missed something

I disagree. A LS1 is an engine, 5.7L Aluminum block. I dont have one but some trucks do, are they "LS1's" then?
Certainly an F body with a 6 cylinder is not an LS1, right?
