Default LS1 is an ENGINE

I keep reading posts where someone is reffering to their ride by calling it an LS1. Even drivers of V6 model Fbody's are doing it.

What's up with that?

I agree, pretty dumb. "It has an LS1" is more accurate.

I wasn't trying to start a flame war but in the past week on this site I have seen at least two threads like
What is the best LS1 color?
Or how does an LS1 handle in snow/rain?

I just wanted to make sure that I hadn't missed something

what about the Y bodys??? Everyone has a point here but arent you just nit picking a little, everyone here knows what someone means when they say, I have an Ls1. I think the fact is the motor has become more recognizable then the name of the car that or its just easier to say LS1 haha

I disagree. A LS1 is an engine, 5.7L Aluminum block. I dont have one but some trucks do, are they "LS1's" then?
Certainly an F body with a 6 cylinder is not an LS1, right?

That's true... but if your got a picture of a truck in your sig, or there's a refference to a truck in your sig.. the rest of us should be able to put the pieces together

I thought I was the only one that realized that. I was the only one that responded with "aluminum"

What about '98-02 Formulas, '97-04 Corvettes and '04 GTO's? They have LS1's too.
