Default Quest for beastly daily driver!

Sup yall, new to the site. I'm coming back to my roots with the v-8s. Got tired of the 13 sec honda, want an 11 sec t/a. I've got my eye on a 01 WS6 M6. Plan on ms3 cam, with basic bolt-ons, and a 100 shot dry. Will this get me to my goal of 11's with sticky tires? It's going to be my dd so mpg is kinda important but speed is more important. I've got a $1000 for mods now, opinions please. Thanks

You might want to plan on a new rear end too.

I am in the same boat as you. Wanted a daily driver and a car with some ***** also. Got a TR 224 cam and a 2-stage nitrous setup up and i couldnt be happier with the out come. Good Luck with your 11 sec quest.

i wouldn't recomend the ms3 for a daily driver. good luck trying to cruise when it surges on you in the low rpms. I would go with a smaller cam and a bigger shot of nos.

i was rollin a 2001 blown extended cab 5 speed 4.3 liter extreme with headers and ported throttle body with side pipes out the body kit in front of rear tires. Then I traded it for a vert 2000 ws6 with mag catback. And the ws6 is faster stock then my supercharged mini truck. I guess its just alot easier to go fast if u just buy something that already ***** and gits and making it faster instead of something slow and making it ok.

It will be no problem at all runnin deep into the 11's with that setup, but if your wanting a big nasty cam I'd look into the MS4 or the TREX and a 150 shot, but don't forget about the suspension mods. Also don't expect 5-6k drops with sticky tires on a 10 bolt... It could last a few runs but I'd say if it's your DD-don't risk it!!! With a good tune you should be getting around 24-25 mpg on the highway from the results I've seen, +/- 1 or 2 mpg depending on gear selection. Then again, when your done with your mods I don't know that your right foot will let you see what kind of mpg your able to get... atleast for awhile! Also; you'll want to look into a nice clutch-think TEXtralia, McLeod, etc... Hope this helped!

Will a 150 shot be safe on a stock internal car? Most the posts I see is that a 150 is cutting it close in the reliability department. I also want that lopy idle I think that it sounds bad, will the ms3/4 give me that? Thanks for everyones help.

Yes a 150 shot is safe on stock internals, I've seen 200+ on stock internals, but it's all in how you set it up, you need supporting mods, and when it comes to nitrous, it's better to be safe than sorry. I suggest going to the nitrous forum on this site and reading some stickies. There are alot of sponsors here that can help you out with your goals and set you up with what you will need to be safe running a XXX shot...
And YESSSSS the MS4 will give you that nasty lopey idle, and Texas Speed is an awesome company to deal with! There's a few videos on this site of MS4's-here's an example:
http://video.ls1tech.com/search/ms4/...b100eed628.htm
(Bear in mind it's open headers with 500 RPM idle)

That sounds sick, not sure my wife will like the open header, at least she didn't on my type r. I've always liked the sound of an open header.

You didn't mention what mods you have now, you're going to need all the supporting mods, full intake and exhaust, before you consider running a cam that big. In which case $1000 might be short. And with a M6, your 10-bolt is not going to last very long with sticky tires and cluch drops, speaking of which you're going to need a clutch that can handle that kind of power...yes lol it's a vicious circle.

Mods so far are: Lid, flowmaster exhaust, hooker long tubes. Plan to get underdrive pulley, take off a/c as I would never use it. That's it.

That flowmaster exhaust is doing more harm that good, depending on how loud you want the car (loudmouth/gmmg) or quietier (magnaflow/corsa), those are better catbacks than the one you have now.

My cam is slightly larger than the MS3 and the only time it surges bad is when the car is cold. Once the car is warm, it drives beautifully and it's an A4. Getting a good tune helps.
