Question about mail order Tunes
well in a few weeks i will be installin my TSP cam package with the Torquer v2 cam and was curious as tuning the car.I just havnt found many local ppl that i fully trust to tune my car im very picky .So would a mail order tune be fine to drive for a while few wide open kicks here and their And who can get a mail order tune pretty dead on ive read some reviews just want some more oppinions.
bud mail order tunes are either hit or miss, so you never know how it will turn out. i had a mail order tune for my 94 camaro and it was pretty decent, but when i took it to a local guy to tune it, he fixed alot of issues that i had with the car. nothing beats a good tune.
A good speed shop tune will always be better then a mail order tune IMO 100% of the time. I say look around the boards as a few questions of the people that are in your area around here and find a shop. You need to have the car tuned to YOUR specs not some generic mail tune. Every engine is different and the best thing is to tune the car to your AF ratios and get it ironed out for your specific mods and engine conditions. You are going to spend a decent amount of money on cams why skimp on a good tune and more power?? I say go to a good dyno shop.

Mail order tunes can be hit or miss. You never know how a tune is going to respond to your car. Sometimes they can be good enough to be better than stock, other times they are not even close and you have wasted money trying to be inexpensive.
You don't really need a tune unless you finish a round of mods, like all the boltons, or cam, or heads/cam. IF that's the case I would save up for getting a real tune as part of your budget for mods, it's smarter.
Mail-order tunes are good for small programming, like removing codes, deleting skip shift, removing torque management, setting fans, changing gears, etc.

I had a mail order tune once. I would never recommend it to anyone. Dynotune is, by far, more effective. Was having an idle problem after the cam install and after 2 exchanges through mail order, the problem got worse. Took it to PSI for a dynotune and Jeff took care of everything. No more idle problem and 26 more rwhp than mail order!
ya i know a dyno tune will be far superior to a mail order tune .but after my cam install it will be perhaps a week or two before i could get a tune or find one local that i trust.I was just concernd i may hurt somthign driving it cammed and untuned for week or two thats why i was curious to a mail order tune .i know the drivability will suffer untill fully dyno tuned but i drive abotu 10 miles to work and back so it shouldnt be that big of a deal for me
The stock computer is pretty adaptive, I read the other day that someone was running a cam on a stock tune. I'm sure it isn't the greatest thing to be doing but it has been done. Now I do not recomend doing this at all for long at all and i wouldn't push the car whatsoever. You said it would be a couple of weeks that is plenty of time so scope out some shops to get it tuned just ask around no one is going to call you a dumb ***.

even though i have many many great shops around me
