Default Crate motor...

I am not ready to buy, but i was wondering if it was possible to get a turnkey LSx motor for 2g or less, whether its from a junkyard or whatever...the motor in my truck is almost at 167k, and I am looking to replace it with an LSx motor instead of having to buy a whole new truck...thanks for any help...

maybe in a junk yard.

I sold a 5.3L from an 02' for 350 bucks, all it needed was new cam bearings.

new....I dont think so..

2G is fairly cheap for an LS1, even one that has plenty of miles on it.

it doesn't even need to be an LS1, the 5.3 would probably do just fine...i just want a motor that is easily moddable with less miles than my truck has...there is not a lot mods for the 5.7 vortec to make big power N/A...Highest id be able to pay right now is probably 3g...

You want the LQ4. Usually are extremely cheap because they have been in most trucks for 7years or so. The engine is the same series as the Ls1/LS6, and differs only by a different oil pan and intake. All LS1 performance parts will fit.

EDIT: The LQ4 is the 6.0L with the iron block. You could go with the LM7(not sure if that is the exact one) which is the 5.3L with aluminum block.

check out the classified section here. i just bought mine last week from another member. 99 ls1, all accessories, computer, harness for 2500. i feel like i came out alright at that price. you could look there, sometimes you can get a pretty good deal. i would make sure to get all the misc. crap with it, the stuff from your truck probably won't match up to the different motor

How good are you at assembly? Can get a shortblock, heads, intake, rails, injectors for 1200. However everything needs to be assembled
