Okay, finally got a chance to check it out today. At cold start up, it idles between 40-50. Once warmed up, it dropped to about 30 at idle, but once I opened up the throttle it saw 45-50. I tried to check it out at WOT but in 2nd gear it spun the tires to much to put the motor at load to get an accurate reading. The 45-50 was under 50%-75% throttle at 3-4,000 RPM.

I am guessing from what everyone has said here, that I am alright. Does anyone believe I may have something I need to worry about?

you sound fine. if it's a higher mileage car, the lower oil pressure to me sounds like there's just a little engine wear (looser tolerances).

i run 10w30 mobil 1 with a wix 51042, and i forget what reading the oil pressure gauge exactly says in my car, but it pretty much points straight up and a couple degrees to the right at all times from cold start to hot.

from a bunch of research i did a long while back for working with gen. 1 small block chevolets, everyone pretty much agreed on a PF454 delco filter and a wix 51069 as the best not-special-order filters under $10. when i got my LS1 i stuck with the wix filters as they were easier to get than the delco filters. i have about five 51069 filters and two 51042 filters remaining in the garage.

IMO, this sounds decent for a higher mileage motor.

I get about 50psi at cold start, 35 at warm idle, and 50+ by 3000rpm. But my motor is very low mileage.

i think, you should change the oil, put the good **** in it with a good filter and then check it.

I plan on doing an oil change soon. I already have a Delco filter ready to go in, and I plan on running Valvoline Dura Blend (partially synthetic). I have seen what fully synthetic oil will do to a high mileage car (leaks a LOT) and I would rather not run into that issue.

UPDATE

Finally did the oil change today. The car had a Fram oil filter on it I replaced it with an AC Delco one, along with some 5W-30 Valvoline.

WOW, I didn't expect to see that much of a change. At idle, instead of idling warm at 25 it idles at 40. At WOT, instead of barely hitting 50, it now gets to 60-65! I feel much better about the car now knowing the pressure is where it should be.

take the manifold off....gm has a specific socket for a wrench....it has to fit over the sending unit because of how its placed on the block...

some people say you can do it without taking off the manifold, but i call bs until i see some vids or something

Even if you drive it hard, I would still say between 3,000-5,000 miles and or 3 months whichever comes first.

I am **** retentive on my 95 Z, and change the oil every 2,000 miles or so in it though.

I change the oil whenever it gets too dark for my comfort.

Royal Purple is the Shi*! The only thing I didn't like about it was the price. Now, since I have different clearances in my Z, I have to run a thicker weight than Royal Purple offers, otherwise I still would be running it.

for example in theory......a A4 car idles around 500rpms (mine does)...soo my engine would function at 5psi with no problems?!?!...WTF

what ive learned from experience and two gm techs....at 1000rpms your car should be have a psi around 30....AT LEAST

ive had 3 ls1 motors....my first with 46k miles on it idle'd at 28 psi...and spun 2 bearings in the process due to lack of lubrication....
my lt1 idled at 19psi.
Chiltons* manual says 6psi is minimum at idle for an ls1 and a ford cel light will only coome on at 8 psi.
