I like the way my car looks. I'm sorry if you guys don't like it but almost everyone that sees it in person loves it. I like it, my friends like it, my girl friend likes it. I'm not about to change something I like because some guys on the internet saw a pic they didn't like.

Opinions on performance mods are welcome in this thread but please save the appearance opinions for the appearance section.

Guys please don't just say go with XXX engine and a turbo. I need to know who sells XXX engine and it has to be in my price range not a 15k LS7. Be reasonable, I'm about to dive in head first. You guys that are already in the pool could at least warn me if its not deep enough.

Hmm Interesting thread. Where in LA are you from? If it was me personally.....

-Texas Speed Forged 347
-TTi T76 Front mount Turbo
-Moser 12-Bolt or 9"
-T56rebuilds Transmission
-Full suspension

Look at Ryan K. 's setups on here, he is pulling high 600s at the wheels and almost breaking into the 9s.

Northwest LA, almost on the Arkansas line. The town has under 1000 people I think.

Seriously, I would send my car to SpeedInc.

http://www.ls1speed.com/turbo.cfm

Twin turbo, full accessories, more power than you would know what to do with...

Give'em a call and see what price they give you.

Looks good but I really want to do everything I can myself. Might sound strange to some but I love it when people ask me who did the work to my car and I say "I did". Plus it will save me some money and I don't have 25k to spend on it right this minute. I have ~10k cash to spend on it right now but I can put back about 1500$ a month. I'm just ready to have it running. I would love to have a procharger kit on it making around 500rwhp and just baby it as I build it up. I don't want to order a D1SC when I know I'll want an F1A later this year.

I'm really thinking about ordering a shortblock and clutch now. I can only work on my car on weekends so by the time I get everything back together I will probably nearly have enough for a procharger kit. Most people say turbo but I love the way the F1 searies head units sound.

Well, they do sell it as a "tuner kit" which you can install yourself. I understand what you're saying though...I hope to be in a similar situation (financially) as you after I graduate.

Good luck!

I think your budget migh be a bit light, and as far as the turbo kit and the A/C compressor, that might be tough too when you try to snake a 4" exhaust in there that will allow the turbo to breath properly.

Nice to save that kind of money a month wish I could... anyhow there are so many different ways you can go with this. H/C spray setup, turbo, procharger, big cube N/A set up... but i second the comment about you wanting 800 RWHP and breaking stuff. People here are breaking stuff with 400 RWHP let alone 800. I am quite happy with my car, its fun on the street (haven't tracked it yet but hopefully i'll make a couple passes this summer but its my DD) sure there's cars that'll beat me, but theres plenty that I hand their *** to them. I'd say go with whatever would give you the best driveability since you state you DD it pretty much. Seems some H/C combo's aren't too DD friendly. But its your car, your money. Just my .02

Can be the camshaft... I just have a cam in my car and its an M6 and its kind of a lumpy cam so it can be a pain once in a while in stop and go traffic.

$25k on a car? In my opinion: DONT DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Get a 125 shot of nitrous to put on it, and just be happy/satisfied/content with running around the street with a nice little 11 second car. Big horsepower means beefier rear end, tranny, fuel, etc. in addition to a rougher ride, more (expensive) things breaking, a severely depleted bank account, etc. I don't know how old you are, but definitely the financially mature thing would be to stock this cash in the bank for a rainy day. It is nice to fall back on if anything happens. Keep in mind, if you shovel your money out for this, you'll never see it again. A $15k car with $25k extra in it will generally fetch $20-25k total. Sorry, thats just my opinion - I hope you have fun either way!

Yeah, I kind of figured this thread would have guys in no short supply coming in and telling you not to spend the money. I am not saying I disagree with them, but you did make it pretty clear that it was your intention of spending the money, and hearing that same **** over and over again probably isn't helping.

Are there any fbody or GM performance shops in your area? There is a good place to start. At least get an idea from someone who does this for a living.
