for all you what is"PISTON SLAP"guys............
#43
my parents had a 2000' suburban and it had piston slap real bad on start up. We thought the lifters were sticking, but now it's clearly not that. I'm one of the privileged ones who doesn't have piston slap on my ls1, but my buddy has an 02 SS and his slaps a tad.

EDIT: BTW, I never even knew what "piston slap" was until I browsed the ls1tech forums. Goes to show how new I am to the motor
This whole piston slap issue is interesting. I'm of the school of thought that as long as it runs well and doesn't drink oil... who cares. The noise so subtle to most people that they would never know. I mean.. the motor is loud as hell anyway. It might bother the **** out of you... but most other folks probably just think it's "a loud muscle car".
This isn't a GM bodied car, but here's some apparent "slapping" on a freshly rebuilt ls1 in my swapped mazda rx-7, new pistons, rings, cylinder bores honed, etc. It actually is very well mannered.. starts, idles, drives great. Hasn't drank any oil that I could tell from the dipstick in about 300 miles since first start.
