Default for all you what is"PISTON SLAP"guys............

I took a few minutes and made this video for ya...Im tired of newbie members tellin members not to buy an ls1 that is knocking.4 out of 5 ls1 engines will have piston slap.If you were lucky enough to find that one that doesnt, stop tellin people not to buy one that does do it...
this engine has 154.000 miles and the knocking stops when its warm completly.no oil consumption and has good oil pressure so in my opinion the slap hurts nothing.this car is ran very hard very often as well, but properly maintained.my sisters00ws6 sounds the exacxt same and was no quieter when it was new..
P.S Ill try to get a warm vid in a couple days my camera went dead makin this..

I had the piston slap when it was cold and now that it is warm here it doesn't seem to do it. It's not really hurting my feelings any.

only negative effects from piston slap are a funny little noise and SOME blowby. Nothing important. And it goes away once everything warms up and running specs are met. What's the big deal?

im one of the few who dont get piston slap which is weird because the orginal engine blew up. I have seen brand new ls-based engines have piston slap when they are delivered to to the dealer.

+1.When I first got my car I could here loud piston slap I took the car back to the dealership and they check it out for me (several times) they said it was normal for all LS1'S do that. (I DIDN'T BELIEVE THEM). They even changed out all my pully's and belt(suckers). So another LS1 owner (manager) from a different dealership brought his car to me to convinced me. It took about two months for all this to happen. After I got on LS1Tech and read that mostly everyone has piston slap I felt better.NOW I'm convinced it's normal it will go away when it warms up and it doesn't hurt the car even with a lot of miles.

I gots piston slap I dont mind it as long as it goes away and so far it goes away after about 30 secs. To be honest the sewing machine sound bothers me more than the piston slap at start up, probley because it doesn't go away lol.

When my parents had a 5.3L Tahoe it would have piston slap when it started up. It was quite a few years ago and I didn't know what the hell it was. They had that thing for ever and it ran strong until the day they traded it in. Im thinking it has to do with either the ignition or the aluminum block. What do you guys think?
